Hi i have this fault 2 my car is a 02 fabia 1.9sdi.

I have same problem, x reg 1.9 turbo diesel. 187000 miles.

Not tried removing fuse 15 yet though

1999 Skoda Octavia Estate SLX TDI AHF engine 155,000 miles.intermittent fault started last month and failed completely today. used fuse 15 trick. I would assume a dry or poor connection as it has got progressively worse, and now failed completely. A faulty componant would usualy cause an immedite failure.

Aurel Bratu, italy, skoda octavia 1.9 tdi 110 hp 1999, 350000 km same problem with the dash board. in the skoda book i had from them the fuse 15 it's the left beam from the headlights but it does the trick to function the dash with the reset problem obviously.

1999 T 1.6 Auto GLXi,

Total failure of speed, revs, fuel and engine temp.

Removal of fuse 15 gets the guages working again with the caveats above.

Original cluster now repaired and working nicely again.

Hi Mannyo,

Did you get it fixed through a Skoda garage? If not, where and how much did it cost? Luckily for me, my cluster decided to work for the duration of my NCT (Irish version of the MOT) so I'm okay for another for another 2 years. It has been f**ked for about 18 months now, even with fuse 15 pulled. :thumbdwn:

Yes, 1999 1.6 Octavia, 79,000 miles.

Loss of speed, rev, fuel and temp, fuse 15 stops it intermittantly

Hi from finland, Yes, 1999 1.8 GLX Octavia, 250tkm.

Scoda Octavia GLXi Auto 1.6

I bought the car with the fuse already taken out. I put the fuse in this night. Made a test drive and I can see the gauges go down to zero sometimes. I'll try some time with the fuse in and see.

Count me in as a yes.

Developed the fault yesterday on a 1.9tdi V plate (206k on the clock). Removing F15 has worked (for now ). Doesn't make much sense though.

Hello,

I hope you are the correct people to talk to about this vechicle safety

problem.

If not I would be greatful if you pass the message on.

The Vechicle in question is the Skoda Octavia.

The safety fault is common to many owners cars of the mark one Skoda

Octavia.

This fault is inclusive to several different trim models, irrespective of

mileage, age, condition.

The Dashboard needles all zero whilst driving, this suddenly intermittant

fault becomes permanent after a short time.

The speedometer, rev counter, fuel gauge, and temperature gauge fail to

work, this is a very dangerous fault because you cant tell what speed your

doing, and could potentially cause a fatal crash, essentially making the

car unfit for road use!

Since the dashboard unit should last the life of the car, it is not

acceptable for Skoda to produce such an inferior quality part.

The members of Briskoda.net online forum have a whole section dedicated to

the problem, plenty of other users could back me up with these claims.

We believe it is the responsibility of Skoda to fix this fault, as an

offical recall as they are legally bound to do so.

Afterall Toyota have recalled several of their cars for safety faults, free

of charge to owners, irrespective of warrantee, age, mileage, condition. So

why can't Skoda do the same?

Upon contacting Skoda directly, they only pass you to your local dealer,

who are useless.

Should this problem be reported to Skoda by a government body, they should

be forced by law to provide a recall for the faulty components.

Thanks for any help,

I look forward to your reply.

99 tdi glx estate. This would be great if skoda fix them!

Ooops - sorry, pressed the wrong button!! Didn't mean to just copy and past Felicia racer's post - Doh! Anyhow, just wanted to say that hubby's MkI developed this fault today......grr..... have only just spent £950 fixing other things now it looks like we'll be shelling out again. Obviously we need to get the car fixed so will have to pay the garage but do you think we stand any chance of Skoda accepting responsibility and coughing up? What should we do - notify Skoda? Do we need to get the car fixed at Skoda dealer (don't normally - too far away and too expensive) in order to stand any chance of getting money back (if they ever offer it - lol!). Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi - sorry - me again... I really must apologise for my stupidity - now I have actually read the whole of this thread and removed fuse 15 - fingers crossed - have also cancelled trip to garage and will wait and see..... and start looking for a replacement car lol!
