Engine light on - EGR Valve fault

Featured Replies

Hello

Having problems with my Fabia 1.4 16v 100bhp

Ever since owning the car it has had the engine light on, when I VAG COM'ed the car it come up with the fault:

EGR Valve - Insurefent flow

Had a word with a friend who was a Skoda Technician and he told me to replace the valve and clean out the pipework to and from!

I have done that so the next step was to get it adapted!

When the garage I took it to were trying to to the adaption it would always fail.

We have come to the conclusion that it either has a air leak on the inlet manifold (which would explain the occasional erratic idle) or it has a sensor fault?

Has anyone had a similar problem with the 1.4 16V engine and what turned out to be the cause?

Thanks in advance

Luke:)

Suspects would be a vacuum hose or MAF

Thanks dude:)

I have a question regarding the vacuum pipe coming off the EGR Valve, Is it ment to connect to something or does it just vent to atmosphere? At the moment it has a one way valve on it then it goes to atmosphere.

Is this correct?

When you want to disable the egr you can bodge it by blocking the vacuum pipe on my car this throws up and insufficient flow.

One end should be connected to the egr and the other end to the vaccum solenoid/block/valve.

I have had a good look round the engine bay but no signs of any solenoid valve block!

Still it don't look right to me! Will take another look tomorrow!

It is normally connected to the vacuum solenoid/source because its the vacuum in the pipe that sucks the egr valve open.

sorry dont know where the vacuum solonoid is on your car but you could maybe look for other vacuum lines and see if they take you back to the solenoid with an empty space for your pipe.

Thanks dude!

I'm 100% sure there is no vacuum solenoid box on my ferby!

I Think it's meant to go to the Air box, the vacuum off the EGR valve is a breather.

The EGR is electric on the 1.4 16v so ignore all of the above.

Have you removed the TB and checked the two little side ports are clear in the metal pipe?

Yea the TB has been removed, the whole manifold if oily inside!

The two little holes look clear but when I remove the manifold I will clean them out!
