Bleeding/Replacing Brake Fluid.....

Featured Replies

Im going to attempt (weather permitting) to replace the brakefluid on my fabia @ the weekend. does anyone have any pointers/tips to how i will do this?

im going to buy a gunsons pressure bleeder as reccomended.

how much fluid will i need to replace the oem stuff?

How will i know if one brake circuit has been flushed thru?

do i have to do them in any particular order?

Ill be using the Castrol Responce super dot 4 that seems to be reccomended on here

need 2 litres IIRC.

My advice - don't do it DIY unless you've done it before / got the right kit / have someone there who's done it before. I got a garage to do mine - cash job, and a piece of.. ahem, ya know ;) Much easier, less hassle, more safety in the long run - Don't fook with the brakes. :D

The order for bleeding the brake is as follows..

1.O/S/R

2.N/S/R

3.O/S/F

4.N/S/F

And im afraid you wont know if you have changed all the fluid, but if you use 1/2 litre per caliper you should be fine. Also unless you bleed the ABS valve block with diag equipment you wont bleed all the fluid, but enough to make a difference.

Tip,

Dont let the resvervior run dry!
