The dreaded anti-roll bar creak

Featured Replies

Hidy Peeps

I Had my 40000 mile sevice at the end of last month, and they also replaced the anti-roll bar bushes because of the dreaded creaking and squeeking. I informed them that by only replacing the bushes it wouldn't cure the problem as a few members on here have said. But replace the bushes is what they did. About a week after service the creaking came back (as was expected) so I booked it in again, this gets us to today. Since it has rained the creaking has stopped but I know it will come back when the sunshines. I have just been told by the garage that they can't find any problems with the car and have just lubricated the bushes. Now down to the real problem, I know the problem will come back and my warranty runs out at the end of the month, so where do I stand? will I have to pay out of my own pocket? my own pocket that holds my Jabba Fund.

I also realised that the Garage that its gone to (Clarion Cars) cannot continue to carry out warranty work after next week as the VW idiots have taken away their dealership because of the location of the dealership.

Any advice would be grateful, any at all.

Thanks

Big Ge :( rge

Is there anybody out there?

Me,

I have the rollbar creek like you, my dealer will when I get the chance to book it in, fix it under warranty even though it run out 6 weeks ago because they were aware of the problem before the warranty run out, and they were testing a fix on another car. On that they replaced the whole anti-roll bar with a new re-designed part.

Thanks Manny, I thought that would be the case, but the service manager told me that when the warranty runs out, it runs out. I think my main problem is that I will have to go to a different garage as Clarion cars will no longer be able to carry out any warranty work. I think I shall speak to Skoda UK on this one.

kenny W had the one replaced on my octavia just before i bought it,not sure if its a redesigned one,but no creaking as yet.

btw what did they lube it with?had silicone grease on my neusped one for ages and no squeaking at all.(this was a different car mind)

I had the dreaded creak on mine, when it went in for service, I mentioned it to them, they replaced the anti roll bar complete, BUT now when i shut either front door, it creaks, no creak while drving though, im gonna get it back to them to sort out PROPERLY this time

Yep, had my bushes replaced/lubricated during a series of 4 visits, no joy :o .

I then did a little background reading about the Golf Mk IV chassis, turned out it could have been (in no particular order):

1. Anti-roll bar bushes.

2. Wish-bone ball joint-wear.

3. Anti-roll bar/linkages (replacement modified bar/bush/link solution)

4. Strut-top bearing creak.

My dealer had the car in for a few days while I was on holiday, they carried out 3 and 4 (they pin-pointed 3 after I lead them that way ).

I've done about a 1000 miles since then, no creak re-occurence .
