Old omega de ville

Featured Replies

Does anybody out there know anything about setting the time on these older time pieces. Sounds like a daft question, but if you know anything about these watches then you'll understand what i'm talking about. I've been fiddling for hours and just cannot get the minute hand to move.

I have a seamaster, and you have to unscrew the winder from the body, then pull the winder out one click to change the date, then another click to alter the time.

Mines a bit of a funny one, when you pull the crown out and move it it only moves the hour hand. It called daylight saving mode (or along them lines) i've been looking at the omega site and some other forums and the older watches have some crazy ways of setting the minute hand, its not just a case of pulling the crown to a certain position. Just cant find anything specific to mine. :thumbdwn:

Having just taken my Seamaster in at one of their service centres for a full service (££££'s dont ask), if you ring them on 02079297706 they should be able to assist you over the phone.

Cheers for that mate. I'll give them a ring. Know what your talking about the price of a service. I got it serviced about 6 years ago (well all i really wanted was a battery) and they said they wouldn't just change the battery (something about service quality etc) anyway it cost 268 quid

Look on the bright side, they are supposed to be serviced every four to five years, so your due another £268 plus inflation.....LOL

Think i'll pass on that one thanks. Probably cost about 800 quid now. lol

To advance the minute hand, press the centre of the "winding" crown with a biro. One push advances the hand by one minute, holding it down causes it to move continuously.

Pulling the "winding" crown out enables you to set the hour hand in increments of one hour - very handy for time zones and for setting the date.

Batteries are cheap in Boots and all you need to fit it is a kitchen knife to open the back and a small screwdriver. My watch takes a 392 or SR41W.

Omega agents are as good at taking money off you as VAG - only a little bit more polite.

rotodiesel.

I may be a bit late in helping but there is a useful weblink and service provided by Omega ideal for owners of vintage watches. It requires you to sign up but it's free so could turn up some useful information for you.
