Bluetooth kit gone AWOL

Things are going from bad to worse aren't they :rotz:

Can you get back the non factory fitted bits that were removed during the rewire?

As for the sub standard job - keep returning the car until it comes back in a 'factory standard' condition ie not having the **** kicked out of the interior.

As for future trim rattles and squeaks......................

So if I understand correctly, they hsve removed the oem bluetooth kit supplied by stu? and replaced it with the much cheaper aftermarket and inferior skoda Blueconnect system?

Was the original kit faulty, if not it should have been left in situ.

When you paid for the OEM bluetooth kit out of your own pocket, what gives them the right to remove it?! I'd be playing hell up.

Surely they cannot remove the old bluetooth kit without telling you first? I would ask for that back.If they cannot give it to you then ask them to pay for it.

Trading standards i reckon, if not i would look at fraud or theft as its like me coming to your house taking your windows out and putting plastic perspect in instead.

Is the following described in the current brochure the blue connect system?

Available on Octavia vRS

Bluetooth® and telephone function for

multi-function steering wheel and Maxi-dot

£480.00

thats disgusting

Do you mean this?? - 'Perspex' is a tradename of Lucite International and is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acrylic sheet which is manufactured from methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA).

Yes the full kit was removed as the wiring is connected at various points along the cars main wiring harness.

The best bits about my car are that it was checked by 2 professionals, and the report came back to say the car was back to 'Factory fit'

'Factory Fit' includes a non working passenger side electric window, a really loose left foot rest, missing armrest trim, badly scratched stereo surround, broken tailgate trim, Scratched rear bumper (The entire interior for the car was stripped out, and put back into the vehicle and taken out as when work was done on it) The larger items have obviously been dragged across the top of the rear bumper, I know it wasn't there before as I use protection;) and general common sense! missing bluetooth kit, and a hole in my carpet. That is what I have discovered to date, I am sure that there will be more when I unfortunately have to use the vehicle some more.

Skoda are really hacking me off.

What a complete and utter load of b0llocks.

I would be driving the car through the front door of the dealership in question.

Checked by R. Orbison and S. Wonder more like

And yes, I would be going ****ing nuts if they ripped out something I paid for and replaced with cheap tat. Its like ripping out a Columbus and replacing it with with a Ripspeed system :thumbdwn:

crap typo

Man that sucks! 'Fraid to say that a few years ago I had a similar issue with a VW dealer in York. They fitted a new loom and in doing so butchered the dash & installed a new HU saying mine was dud! It was a real mess, but they insisted it was factory fresh!

A solicitors letter later, (and a threat to leave the car parked on the road outside the dealers with a comment on them in the window!) they did all the work again, except fitting the HU which they gave me the cash to "source myself" and they also contributed a large sum (for those days) to my nominated charity!

I never darkened their door again!!

Had a similar issue with a Chesterfield Skoda dealer 3 years ago (search for the thread, it'll be on here somewhere)!

So the learning from these two experiences is... Whilst the work was carried out for you, on behalf of Skoda UK, it's the dealer who is responsible for their actions, & who you will have a legal claim against. Especially as they removed your "accessories" and replaced them with inferior goods without your consent!

I would strongly suggest finding out who the Chief Exec/Owner of the franchise is and getting your solicitor to write to him (might cost £50 up front). You can then ask that they rectify their work and that it is independantly inspected (they can pay another dealer to do this or the likes of the AA/RAC etc). You also want a like for like car whilst they cary out the work, updates on a... (what ever basis you specify) and all specific out of pocket costs re-embused!

Make sure that you specify that a copy of your letter has gone to Skoda UK & the Motor Industry Retail Association (whatever it's full title is now!). Specify a date for a response to your letter & a date by which you want the work carried out. Inform them that failure to meet these dates would result in potential court action. Make sure that they respond to you in writing, not just by telephone! I was lucky with the Skoda dealer as I found the Chief Execs email address and got the letter in his inbox! Needless to say there was a very swift response, including a full written appology!

That should get their attention! This kind of action shouldn't be called for, but if it gets that far, this should help resolve it! This sort of approach resolved my two issues, but I still avoid those dealers to this day!!!

I'd still say that the Dealer is your target! They carried out the work (even if under supervision). Now IIRC there is a legal difference between the carrying out of the "rectification work" and the damage that was incurred as part of that process. Hence it's those that physically did "the act" that are liable.

Rejecting a vehicle is always a very difficult process as there is always the thorny issue of depreciation and cost of actual usage. Many people try to go down this route and hit brick walls! I'd also think of contacting Auto Express as they often like these sort of issues as an "article" & so are willling to intervien on your behalf, but be cautious if going down a proper legal as this can complicate it.

Again, you need proper advice, but for what it's worth I'll share what I remeber of what I was told! When you take a vehicle in for "repair" it would be resonable for the vehicle (once repaired) to be returned in an "as was" condition. There are situations when to effect a repair a component may need to be "destoryed/damaged" (such as clips/clamps etc) but they should be replaced with ones to a suitable standard. Therfore if "unreasonable" damage occurs, the person or company who causes the damage would be liable for costs of the rectification work, irrespecticve of the origonal job it went in for.

To give you an example, SWMBO's Fabia needed a new drivers seat base under warrenty. The dealer removed the seat to fit it & in doing so dammaged the door trim. Now it's not reasonable to assume that every seat removed from a Fabia will result in damage to trim. It would be reasonable however for a dealer to know that this might happen & therefore they should take "resonable" steps to prevent it from happening & if it does happen they should "make good". In SWMBO's case once the damage was pointed out and their liability noted, they ordered a new trim & replaced it. However for this to be fully effective, the condtion of the vehicle needs to be spot on to start with or they could try the "what do you expect for the age/condition..." arguement!!!

With regards to the loom being taken back to MK, as the BT kit was something you added, then this would be an "accessory you fitted" as such they should have asked you about this & you have every right to ask for the exact unit to be returned, this is proably where Skoda UK may have some liability! They should have also asked you about fitting the BT unit they have put in the car, as it's not a Skoda unit you should have been asked what your preference was!!!

I know it's hard, but don't let them push you off!! Get proper advice & then think your strategy through. I'm sure they wouldn't accept it if it was work being carried out on their property!!

No this is not the blueconnect system, that system you have quoted is the same as the one which the OP has had removed without his permission. The blueconnect does not interface with the maxidot or steering controls in anyway. Its a simple separate unit that only has a power connection.

Sounds like a tech bagged your kit to flog on ebay or for their own car.

Either that, or they were told to replace everything connected to the loom, and couldnt get the right kit before letting you have the car back.

If the loom and associated parts have gone to Skoda UK/Technical/Wherever for testing there is a possiblilty of getting your BT kit back.

Just out of curiosity, is this the kind of BT kit that has gone AWOL? VW SKODA SEAT RNS 510 MFD3 BLUETOOTH KIT GOLF PASSAT on eBay, also GPS Systems, Navigation GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 06-May-09 11:24:49 BST)

If it is I would certainly be wanting it back PDQ given the price :thumbdwn:

I understand that you are not happy with your vehicle and the work that has been carried out. Would it not be a better idea, to go back to the place that the work was carried out, explain the problems that you now have and together get the faults rectified, rather than put posts up on this forum, slagging them and Skoda off!!!!!!!

I think the OP has spent a lot of time trying to work with a dealer to get his car right (160 days!) and I think he sounds like he has had enough of what is a very un satifactory situation. Hopefully this forum will help him with constructive support & advice, or at the very least provide a place for him to vent his spleen .

I know I appereciate the support that I was offered in a similar situation :o

You can't really blame the OP for coming on here to have a good old rant about his car, he has had £300+ worth of hardware go missing only to be replaced by some cheap tat (IMO).

It seems to be a case of very poor customer service and a very poor standard of repair.

I'd be ranting on here if I was in a similar situation :thumbdwn:
