Opinions on SE Artificial leather outer seat

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just on the verge of putting my order in for my superb. Wavering between the SE and Elegance. My lease allowancwe will only cover the cost of the SE so I'll have to dig into my own pocket money if I want the Elegance. The only thing I'm a bit unsure about with the SE model is the synthetic leather seats. I've not seen an SE's so I've not seen the seats. Can any one with the SE model let know if it looks okay and how it's wearing?

Cheers.

Jon

Parts of the elegance seats are synthetic ie the rear of the headrests, the sides of the rear seat and the back of the front seats , looks pretty good i think i doubt you will notice much difference

Looks just like leather, I had to put my hand in in my pocket for a SE!, personally would go for an Elegance but I do prefer the SE seats as material will not burn your bum in summer or freeze it in winter (most sales are for elegance).

The Elegance seats wont freeze your bum in winter as they're heated...I'll have to wait for the summer to see if they burn! I guess my black leather will get hotter than the Ivory.

I chose leather/alcantara for my Elegance because 1) cold/heat problem, 2) body humidity can't escape through leather, which might be a problem on long trips, 3) alcantara will keep your body in place in the seat whereas leather doesn't have the same grip.

Price was the same for all leather vs. leather/alcantara. Some people think that pure leather looks better. Pure leather might be easier to keep clean. It's your choise how to weight these factors.

I can't tell you about quality as my leather/alcantara is aftermounted by the dealer due to the horrible Danish taxes (factory mounted equipment = 3 x factory price, aftermounted equipment = 1 x price!). I was told that my leather quality is better than factory quality, e.g. I have pure leather all over - no synthetics. So far it looks really nice - time will tell how it's wearing.

(hope my English is understandable).

 Still takes a minute to warm up though! (have used leather heated seats) and the other half does not like leather because of the heat in summer.

Point taken....found them OK this year though (got my car early February)...I'll have to wait to see how they are in the heat (fingers crossed) this summer.

I find cloth seats more unpleasant in the summer than leather , my last car had black leather seats and black interior and i never felt too hot with them

Heated seats are a must though in winter , thats why we specced them for the rear as well.
