Induction kits????

Featured Replies

Hi just thinking about a induction kit for my VRS oct. How does the octavia sound with one on do you get that deep induction raw? Which ones are the loudest and best performace, also how much do they run at

Any ideas?

Can't recommend one personally as i went for a Green filter.

However it's been discussed plenty of times, try doing a search on "Induction Kit" :)

Have you had a read of this thread which mentions some if not all of the makes available?

I'm not sure if its an issue with Octavia's but it certainly is and (maybe) was an issue with my Subaru Legacy Turbo and Impreza's generally. Heavily oiled Induction Kits and Performance Panel Filters mess the MAF sensors. TSL MOTORSPORT in Nottingham specialise in Saab's and Subaru's they recommend not to use such filters and with the help of MOTEC ECU's measured the flow rate of air through different INDUCTION KITS and PANEL FILTERS. They found the best all round to be GREEN PANEL FILTERS.

By the way no offence intended but I think you meant 'roar' rather than 'raw'?

Go for a Green Panel filter...I had an Induction kit...I got a new MAF! Also unless protected the cold charge from the air box will be exchanged for warm/hot charge from the engine bay (with an Induction kit). Turbo's need cold/dense charges of air to perform the best.

Aaquil.

panel filter and drill your airbox (wing side not engine side)if you want to hear a bit more of a raw as you put it ;)

Here's a list and in no particular order:

ABD LAN -

can you clean the MAF sensor?

if so how and what with?

We need an FAQ section ... sigh

Yes - spray it with isopropyl alcohol. Do not rub it with anything if you can avoid it. It's very delicate.

(Edit: if you work in IT, isopropyl alcohol is often packaged as tape head cleaner ... ;) )

Unless you have the special hollow Torx bit, you will be unable to remove the MAF from its housing so you will have to remove the housing complete with MAF from the inlet pipe. It's a section about 2 inches long.

yes ...Isopropanoyl (sp).....you can get it from RS/Maplins etc.

i added a apiro induction and savage 18mm breather onto my octy vrs! there is a slight roar but nothing really loud. i think its the turbo that does not make it as loud? as my mate has the same one on his clio 182 and the roar is twice a loud!

chris

thank you very much for your assistance,

FAQ section sounds like a good idea.

Induction noise is caused by an inlet open to the atmosphere somewhere where you can hear it. As standard, the inlet on Octavias is right at the front of the engine compartment and has been specially designed to be quiet. Ergo - you can't hear it.

Edit, and the longer the inlet, generally, the quieter it's going to be too. There's probably also a correlation between inlet efficiency and the amount of noise it makes, a bit like exhausts. Straight through, full bore, isn't necessarily the most efficient exhaust, and I bet the same applies to inlets.

@Wrighty - we have an FAQ but this isn't in it. I was just being facetious. My wrist is now held out and my eyes are tight shut in expectation of the smack .... :P

:slap:

 Waaaahhhhhhh!!!! :mecry:

Top of page two again...right to answer and contribute somthing to the thread...

Carbionio lovely sound, similar to the ABD and loud. Well it's not loud in the cabin, but find a tree lined road at night and open your window...it's not v10 straight to atmosphere sound, more Darth Vader in a marathon sound :D

We need a FAQ and sound clips :D Damit why do I keep thinking up work for myself...
