Outlook Auto Shades - which ones?

Featured Replies

I have seen these new type of sun shades available, but nowhere seems to list which type should be used with the Octy 2 - rectangular or round. I think round would be best, (though one site says rectangular) does anybody have these and which type did you buy?

Many thanks.

There are genuine Skoda shades as well, which fit perfectly and leave no gaps around the window (at least they do in the Accessories brochure ;) ). Can't remember where I found the brochure.

Through blind luck I happen to have it open on my computer here: http://www.skoda-auto.com.mt/OctAcc.pdf

The back page dates the brochure as 2006, but the car hasn't changed since 2004 unless you've got a 2009 model...

The 2009 model would be exactly the same. Only the front panels and the interior (slightly) have been redesigned. The doors have not changed.

http://www.accessories.skoda.co.uk/ is the website for the full accessories list

Thanks for the help all, I've managed to contact the manufacturer and have ordered some.

FYI they recommend the "round" versions for the Octy.

I have seen those in use, but I don't want something over the outside of the door....

Interesting idea but I think one had to remove them on any stop and I guess they would create some addictive noise at highway speeds.

They do not need to be removed when stopped as they fit like a 'sock' over the window and are held in place by the door being shut; unless you are worried about them being vandalised.

Don't think they are noisy as the mesh is very fine and light.

My friend, you're forgetting where I do live...

I fear that at high speeds they might act as a foil. But they're so cheap...

I was clearly being totally blind then - cheers. Must be the glare; need some car blinds ;)

The Skoda ones, as well as the Milotec ones are produced by ClimAir.

The mesh of the climair ones is very fine and they dont block the sight too much.

The cheaper ones (the ones that have a two piece rearwindow blind.) block the sight more and the mesh is a little sloppier in its frames.

You could contact Mr Meffert of Climair himself to let him make you an offer.

If you want his mailaddy ---> pm.

I bought the Octavia ones over Mr Meffert, the Roomy ones over Milotec.

I got my shades from these

Palm Automotive.co.uk Van Accessories Van Styling 4x4 Accessories

Easy to fit & work a treat....have a new born baby in the car & practically no glare.

stamullenRS - how are you finding the shades? do you have any photos of how they look on your car? have you had any problems with them falling off when going over bumps in the road?

Sorry for all the questions but as these ones are about half the price of the Skoda ones or the OE ones that are also mentioned on this site I'm wondering how they fare?

Cheers,

Balham

edit: just found another thread and it seems that these palm ones are sourced from OE?

Which browser you trying it on? I've found the links from the front page to the Skoda section don't work with Firefox. Running IETab in Firefox, or IE7 natively does the trick though.

Bad website design, but at least a solution....

Using Firefox! Tried using IE7 - eureka, website operative; don't really expect that sort of glitch these days though. ;)

Worth installing the IETab Firefox plugin, for such eventualities. It happens to me more often than it should

Done that; got it working. Thanks.:)

I wonder if it will cure the fact that on my main PC @ home I can't use IE7, only firefox :(; have to try it. ;)

im after a rear one like the side ones for when the dog is in the back, but no one seems to do a rear one on its own and i dont particularly want to have to by the sides that i already have.
