Powerflex Wishbone Bushes

Featured Replies

i need my rear wishbone console bushes doing and im thinking of the cupras and with powerflex at the front

however, a few years ago i put a full powerflex setup on my Clio, and they squeaked like crazy, any little bump in the road, squeak squeak squeak !

i dont want to make the same mistake again especially as the labour cost of fitting them is so high with wheel alignment being needed aswell

any of yours squeak ?

anyone got just the wishbone ones, how do you find them, i dont want to be crashing about all over the place i love the comfort of the Fabia

I dis my rear bushes myself about a year ago. Pain in the **** to do, but well worth it IMO. Fit and forget. Only i thing i noticed was there was slightly more road noise, but barely noticeable

I had Unit18 do mine - Cupra and Powerflex combination to replace the completely split and broken OEM ones on mine

Car is much more composed now and has more front end grip - but i had the SEAT front strut brace fitted too so that may not be JUST the bushes.

No squeaking i can hear, the ride is a bit firmer overall but smaller bumps/holes are better absorbed, with larger pot holes cause a louder bang.

I was warned to the car being more camber sensitive but as i had completly knackered items before I haven;t noticed it

I would recommend them (but i'm sure that OEM replacements would also have been better when compared to the destroyed items that were removed!) and Ross and Ali offer a cheap service compared to everywhere else that quoted me!

hmmm maybe its just me then lol

more likely to be the Clio! :D

LOL, it was defo the bushes, surely some of you lot must have experienced it, i did have the full lot though inc ARB bushes, cant quite remember but not sure if it was those at fault rather than the wishbone bushes

If they squeaked then they were not fitted right dude, all moving surfaces must have the supplied grease smeared on them or they will make noise, when fitted properly the only side effect is a slightly higher noise transfer

something on my front left crunches/squelches over speed bumps now or even drop curbs/bumps in road :( been getting progressively worse

Only started after I had the front/rear wishbone bushes changed and the arb bushes.

Was done by guys at Unit18 so i'd assume they were done properly :( I just try and ignore it

has anyone ever replaced these bushes with standard items again ?

I've often wondered what i'd go for if it comes time to fit new bushes, but I read a thread on here about someone having put theuprated ones on but found them to be overly harsh and vibrations were coming through. They switched back to normal bushes and things got better.

I have had superflex power bushes before on a previous car and i found bumps are less absorbed and there's little movement in the bushes, so it does tighten things up but it makes it quite abit harsher imo. Best way to describe the experience was being able to feel it even when driving over a 10p coin.

One thing will say for them is they lasted something like 60k miles so thats cool.

I think me personally will avoid the cupra ones as i like my comfort. Its just a personal thing.

if it helps

on my mums SDI @ 54k we replaced front and rear wishbone bushes with oem and the agian at 66k they were shot.

this time we have put in cupra and powerflex and they are fine. slightly improved handling and overall much better

in terms of comfort over the last 6k then I would say that there is very little difference and would advise anybody that this is a must modification only from the perspective of the standard parts are just so poor

I am a Powerflex convert, did the bushes on my Mk4 Golf a few years ago and still going strong, also did the Wife's A3, still fine, noise slightly up like others said but it tightens the handling on the up side and although not a good job to do at east you can say you won't be doing it again, would certiainly use them again.

What's the Fabia story here then, are people using Seat Cupra bushes and Pwerflex, Back or front?

I have the cupra console bushes fitted and it feels alot stiffer at first, with a lot of cabin rattle, but after a few hundred mile they bed in a little, and they make a hell of a difference!

Improved handling, ride and the steering feels much mroe positive too!

Good times considering they cost just over 8 quid each,

bad times when i saw the labour bill :thumbdwn:

So is it on the front you used Cupra bushes? Sorry not sure what the console is, I am guessing teh aluminium bit with bushings at the front.
