"Heat shield" under the catalyst

Featured Replies

Hello,

can anyone give me the spare part no on this?

It is a Fabia 2001 1,4 Mpi, and the cover is located below the catalyst, to protect it from igniting dry grass etc.

I need it for my Danish MOT, and was told by the dealer that it could only be sold with a new catalyst, not in it's own.

I have found two at scrao dealers, with the numbers:

6QO 201 307 A

6Q0 803 310 B

but am not sure if this is the correct part. Googling doesn't help much :(

Can anyone help?

Hello Zby,

Not a lot of help to you, but here in the United Kingdom I cannot see a heat shield fitted below the catalyst converter on my 2005 Fabia VRS, and the ground below?? it is fully exposed.

The catalyst sits high above suspension members and IF the car had NO wheels the catalyst would still, NOT touch the ground.

Would you say YOUR heat-shield is welded to, or is permanently attached; to the converter as a complete unit.

However, on my car, there is a full length heat shield fitted to the floor pan, ABOVE the catalyst converter/exhaust system, and running the full length/path of it.

Sorry cannot help any further, can only suggest contacting Skoda through the internet or telephoning them, to find the price and parts number, possilbly contact an exhaust fitting company for help and guidance?

Could you perhaps put some photos on this site for others to see, some member maybe suggest a different approach.

Good-luck. Ian. 03/06/2009 :rofl::o:thumbup:

Well, the shield is tightly welded to the catalyst converter itself.

I spoke to Skoda and their answer was that as it was not an independent part, but part of the catalyst converter itself, it did not have an independent spare part no either.

SO I'm off to the exhaust fitting companies and scrappers to see if I can find a replacement.
