New colour for my 18" Zenniths

Featured Replies

I was going to say, they look very similar to the standard colour to me. It may well be a combination of the camera used and the different monitors we're all viewing it on, but I can't tell the difference.

Yeah, it's one of those that's lost on the camera. They're in hi-power silver powder coat. They look a lot more like polished metal than the OEM finish - No visible metalic flecks in the paint. I'm not sure I'm happy with the quality of the finish in a few places tbh. I think I'm going to go back and get a couple of areas looked at and see about clear coating.

Yes, can imagine them being a bit brigher and shinier IRL :)

Let us know how you get on - if you're not happy with the job get back there ASAP....

Been back with them just now and they're not happy with them either and want to redo them free of charge. The main problem is a shallow orange peel on certain contoured areas where the powder hasn't flowed so well and a couple of the corners having a slight volcanic pin-prickiness. The flat surfaces are fine. In fairness, yesterday when they did them, the sky was black with thunder clouds and was raining cats and dogs so the defects wouldn't have been as easy to see as today.

Today, I looked back at the car when I was paying for fuel and in the bright sunlight, the wheels looked amazing, so big and bright, really enchancing the look of the car.

It's going in again next week, I may change to a spakle silver, but whichever colour I go for, I'll definitely be having them lacquered this time. Oh, they'll be putting shorter valve stems on next time too! :)

Sounds like a good outcome. I'd certainly stick with that finish personally, and then lacquer over the top.

Might go for the same type of refurb when I get mine done actually :)

Is that a Photochop?

yeah :) - Looks like I messed up the perspective on the back wheel.

:)

It was actually the location of the rear caliper that had me wondering. Then yes, the perspective is slightly out. Still not a bad job though

Think that shade suits the blue much better....

Where did you get yours done?

Found a local guy at a place near Potterhanworth, just outside Lincoln, called Viking Powder Coating. Living close by I dropped mine off and collected them.

He's not a big concern, so don't know what the options are for delivery etc. Charged me £180 for 4 wheels. One has some slight imperfections, but they are only noticeable close-up, so I didn't get it redone - plus I was impatient and wanted them on.

Bet you're all sick of this wheel saga by now! They're going in again on Thursday. Sparkle silver, clearcoated. :)

No doubt at the end of all this I'll just wish I'd put the money toward a set of 19" gunmetal RS4 IIs.

I know, I know, I keep liking the idea of anthracite for a bit and then getting cold feet. You never know, come Thursday morning, I could try a sample anthracite wheel by my car again and take the plunge! :)

Go for it,You know you wanna!

regarding those rs4's, I was going to go for those, but in the chrome and black variety

If you do go for them, I know someone after a set of 18" Zeniths :D

Cheers

... anthracite. Although quite a light anthracite as they go. Very close to that original Honda colour I liked right at the begining of the thread I think. Looks much better than the photoshops I did above.

Sorry, I've lost the plot now.

Are they actually the real wheels, or a Photoshop version of what they'd look like.

I must be getting too old to keep up :(
