This is bluvrs2's vRS with Smoked Chrome finish from The Wheel Specialist. Look great. B)

That looks very nice indeed

I've been thinking about having my Zeniths refinished in a darker colour to contrast with my silver paintwork but have not been convinced about anthracite. Found a local company this morning offering powder coating in smoked chrome and have just spent the last hour trawling the web for pics of smoked chrome alloys.

Thanks for posting this. Great timing!

So, Diamond Silver vRS with Smoked Chrome Zeniths - what do people think?

Im liking that look. Was going to get something similar done on mine.

There is a Wheel Specialist franchise about 15mins from me, so might just be popping in to see how much this would be to get mine done likes these.

I think that colour suits the blue.

Well here are mine in Shadow Chrome from B A Wheels in Norwich. Slightly darker than bluvrs2's.

Very nice job

How much, if you don't mind me asking, and powder or paint ?

clocked one of my wheels on the EuroTunnel last week and then did the other one at a hotel in Brussles later the same day so I'm thinking colour change. Trouble is, what colour for a black car?...............

I'd go anthracite, black, then silver again

£305 including stripping and refitting wheels and tyres to car. Wheels fully refurbished with minor kerb damage repaired, powder coated and laquer finish. Less than the quote I had from The Wheel Specialist and can't fault the quality of the work.

More details here:

They look black from the photo, but they never do justice , I pm you last week , no reply. Did you get quote online for wheel specialist, or ring them ,as I paid £276 on the4th july last year . Look good

They are darker than I was expecting from the sample wheel I'd seen, but definitely not black. I think the camera is struggling to cope with the contrast. I'd have been quite happy with the same colour as yours, but I think the darker shade works with the silver.

Yes it was an online quote - £329 plus £47 for stripping and fitting wheels and tyres. I then got a series of emails offering discounts of 15-20%, but once I'd factored in the cost and hassle of taking the car to Nottingham I decided to go with the local quote.

I pm you last week , no reply

Apologies for not responding to your PM - I just thought I'd post the pictures first to give us something to discuss :)

No worries mate<said in an Aussie accent !>:giggle: mine were price for stripping etc, you pm me ages ago i wondered how it went, now i know:

Nice one. I REALLY like them. That shade looks perfect on your silver car.

Where's that thanks button gone?

Thanks to Brimma, bluvrs2 and wega3k for the feedback

you guys that have had wheels re rurbed and coloured..........a question.

\\\did the wheels get coloured all over or do they just do part of the wheel.? Was thinking of getting mine done (black for a black car?) and a mate had em done by a local company who didnt colour the inside of the wheels. i still looks really good though. he had gun metal on silver golf. i thnk it was a company called smart auto solutions if anyone heard of em.

http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/File/wheel-finishing-process.php Here it explains all, wheels stripped of any paint, heat treated to remove air from alloy ,< in my case smoked chrome> then painted black<powder coat , then smoked chrome finish ,then heat treated again, and then a lacquer coat . Then tyres back on ,including chrome valves and dustcaps and chrome balance weights

From the website of the company that did mine: "With our refurbishment service, we don’t just paint the face of the wheel. We strip off the existing paint & re-powder coat them inside and out leaving a long lasting, durable finish. You cannot achieve the high level of finish with our refurbishment service from a mobile operator. We DO NOT use spray cans like others will."

"We also undertake Front Face Cosmetic Repairs, where the level of damage is minimal. Here the tyre (if fitted) is pushed down the side of the wheel & masked off so as to gain complete access to the wheel rim to repair any damage. The wheel face is then repaired suitable standard for priming. The chosen base colour is then applied (2-3 coats) and then finally a clear lacquer is applied to seal and finish (2-3 coats). When the wheel is cured for maximum durability and protection. The tyre (if fitted) is then re-flatted & is ready for use."

My advice would be to get quotes for a full refurbishment and compare prices before settling for a front face repaint.

Just dropped my car off at a wheel specialist to have the two nearside wheels repaired after the wife curbed them, again! I have asked for the standard finish, however, having read through this thread I do quite fancy the anthracite or shadow chrome.

What do people think would look nice on a FL Vrs estate in silver. Quick replies would be good in case I change my mind. Thanks.
