AutoGlym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've just washed the car using Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner. I've never used it before as i normally use the Meguiars gold class shampoo but my local Halfrauds didn't have any in stock so i tried the AutoGlym instead.

It seems to have done a good job and suds up ok in the bucket but i noticed when actually washing the car there were no suds to speak of at all and at times it looked as though i was just using a wash mitt with plain water.

I just wondered if this was normal for this product. I used a bucket that holds just over ten litres and added two caps of product in the bucket as it says on the bottle.

Can anyone who uses this stuff say if the lack of suds when washing the car is normal?????

Cheers

Dave.

Do you like in a hard/soft water area? Did you jet the water into the bucket or pour straight from a tap/hose?

This happened to me too. you really need to froth it up when you are filling it up and using warm water helps

I have been using this stuff for some while now and i believe it to be good stuff. I always use hot/warm water and froth it up well with my mitt in the bucket as i fill it. I also put a fair amount in pherhaps 3 caps for 10 litres in a bucket. I can see your point of when applied to the bodywork though but seems to do a very good job. I must admit i thought the same when i first used it but i guess its just the way it is! :)

Might try a little more in next time then.... Sheffield is soft water i believe. The water was hot from the tap and added the stuff just before the bucket was filled. It was foamed up well in the bucket my issue was when it was being put on the car....

Normally with the megs gold class you can see nice amounts of suds on the car itself as you are washing it. With the autoglym there were no suds at all on the car. I even sat there agitating the stuff in the bucket and tried to collect suds from the bucket with the wash mitt but still nowt on the car itself.

Cheers

Dave.

I don't rate it tbh, it's way too expensive, and doesn't seem to clean the car properly.

I usually use the cheapy halfords stuff in the blue tub for the first wash, and then the Turtle Wax nano-tech stuff for the 'after polish' wash, that works for me, and I can be anal about a clean looking car.

Next time you need to buy some shampoo WaveyDavey try Mer shampoo...

I've used umpteen different brands including AG, Megs, T wax and the Mer is IMO the dogs danglies!

:)

It is a good shampoo but there are better ones on the market IMO.

You are right in that it doesn't offer up many suds, even after giving the bucket a squirt with the pressure washer.

The Gold Class you have used previously I rate higher than the above for both suds & the feeling of the water being lubricated when whizzing the mitt over the car.

We use the AG stuff @ work albeit in the bulk trade containers and we use a darn sight more than 2 cap fulls in a bucket;)

I stopped using this after one bottle because of this. I live in a hard water area and even by the time I got the bucket out to the car , the suds had dissapered and it was just like washing the car with green water! IMHO even the Turtle Wax shampoo is an improvement on it in my area , I also rate the Zymol shampoo that you can buy in Halfords , but I am now using Megs NTX Shampoo and I think its great!

its fairly normal and doesnt foam up too much as its more designed to have other things in it to help gently move dirt away and to clean the paint etc. megs is more foamy yes.

Should have popped round to mine Dave

Got 3 Bottles of Gold class on the 3 for 2 deal

Could have let you have one until they were back in stock

Just finished my 2.5l bottle. Wouldnt buy it again for that reason.

cheers guys.... think i'll keep going till i can get some megs gold class then keep the AG stuff for emergencies only.

Cheers

Dave.

I agree with Chris_Focus on this one, the AG product is over rated and doesn't offer as much lubrication as the Megs Gold Class Shampoo.......

You don't need to have many suds when washing the car as long as the shampoo provides good lubrication.........

I am using CG Maxi Suds at the minute but I will be going back to Megs Gold Class once I have used up what I have got..........

No problems here with it, you need to put (and here is my technical ability put to the test) a thumb amount of AG into the bucket, by that i mean if you get a rubber glove and filled the thumb hole up with AG it be that amount you need for a 3/4 full bucket. The only problem ive ever had with the stuff is in hot weather when it dries too quick, but then i guess all do the same.
