Drop Links

Featured Replies

Afternoon All

When i collected my Fabia in November there was a very audible clonk from the front passenger side suspension.

On putting it up on my mates ramp it was diagnosied as a loose drop link, which was replaced and all was good....

...until I had my (also knackered) bushes sort out in March.

They were upgraded to a Cupra and Powerflex combination and are much much better that the split and crumbling OEM's that were there!

However i gained a light knocking from the drivers side which i just put down to slightly firmer suspension.

This has got progressively more pronounced and sounds very much like the initial drop link knock.

Wheels to full lock and a hefty yank on either side's link and there is definitely movement in the drivers side one where the passenger side one is solid as a rock.

I know when my mate changed the passenger side one it was only about £15 so i'm not too worried about the cost but where do i get them from?

From memory i'm sure all that was neeeded on the previous one was undo two bolts - remove old one - put new one in - do bolts back up - is it really that easy??

Thanks

Cliff

Get them from dealer or independent VAG specialist. 10 minutes to swap out, nice easy job mate.

I can source them for you Cliff if you wanted :)

Go on then let me know the damage (bear in mind that i am sure it was about £12 for the last one! ;))

If the car's lowered you can also use the drop links from a mondeo - they're shorter than the fabia's apparently. Do a search on here for the exact specs....

Thanks Basil but its on standard "lofty" suspension :D

Ok I'll PM you the info later today when I have it (could be early tomorrow), I expect it will be a v.similar price to this to be honest:

Fabia Anti-roll bar drop Link Stabilizer Bar - £19.99 : Skoda Parts, Jorily, The Skoda Parts Shop - Probably the UKs largest independent skoda parts supplier

Cheers Ed - hmmm maybe previous one was £20 then not £15!! ;)

Shut it you or you'll find that coincidentally your drop links go missing :P

Suspension thief

:)

ive also noticed you can drive without one in one side lol...

I couldn't say. I've been selling both brands for a long time and both have been fine.

Also might be worth getting some new locking nuts if they dont come with them.

Just standard self locking M10 if I recall.

I changed them myself from memory you'll need a 17mm spanner and a Torx bit - I think it is a T30, if its the genuine skoda ones that is.

The bottom one can be a touch fiddly due to the arch liner but just takes a bit of patience.
