is this normal for a 1.4tdi ?

Featured Replies

i picked up a Roomster 1.4tdi late Thursday afternoon as a courtesy car it had only 15 miles of fuel left.i went to put £6 of diesel in this morning and after a few yards the fuel gauge didn't move,as this was the first diesel car i had to put fuel in,i thought i did something wrong.

so further down the road i stopped at another fuel pump and put £3 in ,i drove away but then it only went up a bit.by the time i got to work it read 90 miles of diesel left in the tank.

why did it take so long for the gauge to register the diesel ?

i only did 5 miles in it all day (dealer is close to my work) ,next time i get a courtesy car i'm not putting any fuel in !! (unless i need it)

yes, is quite normal.....

keep your money in your wallet

i was impressed with engine ,quiet for a diesel and the speed was awesome.the car only had done 1200miles so the gear stick was a little stiff.but the car is too big for me and i hate the looks (as did my work mates).

works well in the fabia mk2.... torquey little engine and surprisingly responsive too...

Surely yes at lower speeds. But when accelerating from 70kmph to 100kmph there is just not enough power.. But in the city it is just fine..

Fuel/range computer always takes a while to register if you have only done a 'splash 'n' dash' as opposed to a full tank. It takes a decent amount of fuel to get the float in the tank to move properly.

I always refuel my loan cars on the basis of miles I know I've covered vs. expected fuel consumption.

if you ever put too much fuel in a courtesy car and you are not going to use it all before handing it back, rag the living daylights out of the car, have some fun.
