What's The Best Remap For An Octavia VRs MK2 TFSI?

I'm new to the forum and was interested if anyone could recommend which remap is best for my MK2 Octy VRs petrol?

I've had quotes from the usual......Jabba, Revo, Angel Tuning, AMD technik, Celtic Tuning etc.......But which one should I go for?? :confused:

Any advice?

where are you , there may be people close to you that would be willing to take you out , for suitable liquid recompense .

try a local meet maybe , good laugh .

i have revo 1 on mine and love it , but be warned its addictive and gets expensive lol.

I went for Angel myself, not for convenience or price, but because of recommendations, so far it has blown me away.............

I'd add P-Torque into the mix. Gets superb results and is considerably cheaper than other tuning companies.

Got Bluefin myself, and it's excellent, but I had a P-Torque remap on an older car.

I would say a lot depends on what your future plans are. If you intend to 'just' have a remap then you'd be hard pressed to find anyhing better than Superchips Bluefin in terms of value for money and the ability to remove the map as and when you want to however, if you intend to take things a bit further then it's definately worth investing in one of the more 'specialist' tuning companies such as REVO. This will give you more flexibility as and when you decide to add further hardware.

.......... now there are more tuning companies mapping the TFSI lump I'd be fascinated in a direct comparison in results, I've always championed REVO but I'm wondering whether or not the competition has caught them up?

Bear in mind the Bluefin gives you a free upgrade to stage 2 in the future if that's the route you decide to go down

another good thing with bluefin is that you can use the handset to diagnose CEL (check engine lights) on your car. on top of free upgrades to stage 2 and 2+. its a bargain.

as said before there have been people who have had issues in the past, but the majority of tfsi issues have been with DSG, and edition 30 golfs, but i have read it is sorted now. drkuthan, and hoffmeister have both had stage 1 and stage 2 bluefin on their octavias, and theirs worked fine, so it shows the problems were fixed

i would however love to see the rolling road graphs from APR and P-Torque remaps, as a comparison to bluefin and revo.

as a skoda main dealer tech we see all sorts of remaps me personaly would go for a revo, revo spend hours and hours fine tunning a wide variety of engines and only if they are happy they then release the software. The software cannot be seen by our vas dealer computers so if you visit a dealer for any work you wont have any probs with diagnostic machines saying unable to perform due to incorect data.( ive seen this a couple of times already) Ive to got a oct 2.0 tfsi with a stage 2 revo setup plus other tunning mods and ive gone for the option of a select plus which alows you to switch between stock and performance.the other thing to consider is are you going any further with tunning because revo spend time with people like miltec, forge, and other specialist vag tunning companys making sure everything works as it should. Finaly the backup is second to none unlike some who say f..ck of once youve bought!!!!!!!!! any info you want please get in touch, were are you located?.

I've been looking at the Bluefin remap and it looks pretty good, also they seem to know what they're doing. Also as many have said they offer a free stage 2 upgrade remap. However, surely there's a CATCH. Some people have said that the standard VRs exhaust isn't suitable for this remap and can't cope. Is this true is it just a way for them to make more money?

If I'm honest, I just want a good map! ! !

Bluefin stage 2 is no different from other stage 2 remaps - you need extra kit to be able to take advantage of it so there's no catch (it's not a case of you get 230bhp for stage 1, 250bhp for stage 2 etc - hardware is required!)

It's generally stuff like a front mounted intercooler, downpipe, performance exhaust etc. but I believe Superchips say just a replacement downpipe is enough to make use of the stage 2.

I am not able to say who it is remapped by now as it would be considered to be "unauthorised commercial activity" (despite me being a Freedom member)

I bought the car with a Revo map already on it.

In comparison I think the Revo was more aggressive (stage 2, set to boost 8) and the new one is more progressive and feels to rev better up the top end. There's not much in it really from an out and out speed point of view but I couldn't use my car as a demo to advertise my own business using someone elses remap now could I

Superchips won't make money out of you having a new exhaust so there's no reason to think they're trying to sell you something you don't need I have a Milltek full system (including downpipe and sports cat) and the difference in the car before and after (with no change to the ECU map) was quite noticable

I'll forget about stage 2 as all I want is a basic remap to make my VRs pack a little more punch !

So does a STAGE 1 remap with any tuner work sufficienlty on a standard VRs? (no upgraded intercooler, downpipe, performance exhaust etc) If so who offers the best remap for my needs? I just want my VRs to pull a bit more, and run that little bit more smoother. I don't care for ridculous power that can't be used.

stage 1 remaps are designed to go straight on without any modifications, and the difference is huge, when you go back to a standard spec they feel rubbish

From what's been said, and the requirements you are after, I would say go for Superchips Bluefin.

The hand held controller would come in handy for you, and you dont sound like you want to go much further with the mods.

If you do Stage 2 is free.

I have a good friend Bruce aka Uncle Bulgaria who is running Bluefin and he really rates it.

That would be my advice to you anyway, but as always its up to you

Take 'claimed' performance hikes from ALL the players in the tuning world with a huge pinch of salt. To say that some increases have been massaged is an understatement but in the world of tuning, selling/marketing is very much a numbers game!

I have Bluefin stage 1 on an otherwise standard Octy 2 TFSI. I'm more than happy with the performance improvement and have experienced no problems.

As my car is still under warranty I was reassured by the Superchips warranty for any problems caused by the remap.
