this can be done?????? why would it be off in the first place????

The NSR fog light on all cars sold now is off by default. The EU say you only need an OSR one, and all manufactures follow this guideline. Having both can cause confusion between stop/tail and 2 foglights can be mistaken as brake lights or obscure the brake lights in certain conditions.

It should however, (if you want to) be possible to make it work by running a wire from the fog light element of the bulb on the right to the coresponding section of the one of the left (as both of them should be a double fillament and only the right hand one is wired up as default).

Is there any legal requirement to have the OSR foglight working when you travel abroad?? As this would mean making our NSR work

No legal implications, Only having one fog light either centrally mounted or on the offside is the minimum requirement, Same applies to reversing lights albeit on the nearside.

Think of it as more of a cost cutting exercise on the part of the manufacturers.

But the problem is its can-bus ! is it not !!

Its got nothing to do with the ecu or going in through vag com.

Just putting a wire between the two fog lights.

Wired mine up at the weekend, took around 30 mins. If you look at both connectors you'll see on the NS connector that one of the wires is missing. All i did was scotchlock from the OS wire (grey and white i think but check), ran the cable behind the trim across to the other side and then as i didnt have a suitable metal connector I just pushed the wire in the spare hole on the NS connector and cable tied it. Works a treat.

To my way of thinking having two fog lights is better than just one

What year is yours? I am a little concerned as mine has bulb fail warning, and if you

connect the second lamp, does it not conflict with this??

Mines a 03, not sure if i have the bulb fail circuitry on mine (sure someone can tell me) but i have no warning lights

Yes, you will have the bulb fail on yours. :)

Yes, you will have the bulb fail on yours. :)

What on a 03 ?

Best way to prove, take either a sidelight or a brakelite bulb out and see what happens on the dash !
