How Much Is That Vrs In The Window ?

Featured Replies

MH,

Cheers for that. I had heard some forces were using them as unmarked cars. I work in Stockton and have already been 'done' on the A66 - the 50mph stretch at Teesside Park so I'll keep my eyes peeled. ;)

If they don't have a Briskoda.net sticker, assume they are the 'enemy' ;)

Was it the VRS that clocked you? About 2 months ago Cleveland were using an 03 Audi A4 3.0 Quattro Saloon (Dark Grey) (Nice work if you can get it!)

I believe this replaced the Peugeot 405 (dark blue)

A mate saw the Skoda at a Boro game a few weeks ago. there could be a chance it is a senior officers car rather than a traffic car. I thought traffic cars were on the go 24 x 7 rather than covernig footie matches.

Be careful out there!

CRA

PS Had the Peugeot try to stalk me a few months ago ;-) - Being an impeccable driver he soon got bored. He picked up a victim pretty soon after. Another Peugeot 405 whizzed past at about 70mph (This was on the A66)

CRA,

Unfortunately it was a fully marked up bells 'n' whistles T-5 hiding up the sliproad at T/Side park. I should've known better ;)

I'm off for a :drive1: if I see any vRS Skoda en-route I'll give'em wave

If its a Silver vRS, its an unmarked traffic car, they took delivery of 5 of them a week before i got mine ;)

I wondr if any of us would fancy beating the speed that the unfortunate sod with the M3 who was in the papers last week , getting done for 156 and a bit MPH! (the fastest ever speed clocked by the cops for a car in the UK)..I think we should beat this and win the 'trophy' for Skoda (imagine the publicity!)...i nominate...erm...anyone else but me to go for it! ;)

It would have to be a chipped car , ive heard that vRS chipped to around 225 ish BHP have a max of around 160MPH if they get enough space , so its do-able!! (The guy with the M3 said something like "I wasnt going that fast , the car could do over 170"!)

Ha !

I don't have a sticker YET

But once i get around to getting the dealer sticker off the back window, i'll be placing the order. ;)

Just how exactly does anyone manage to get up to that sort of speed on a UK road?

Every time i build up a head of steam, some git in a Micra pulls out in front of me

Actually, that sort of speed is absoloute madness on the road these days, he deserves whatever ban / fine he gets.

I nominate myself! but your gonna have to wait 3 years till the warranty is over. A82 glasgow is the ultimate road in the uk, cant wait till it has been driven in.

Monkeyhanger - think you should have a drive up in that part of Scotland and you will see why - a large number of people going very fast (in fact I think the previous "record holder" was also on the A90).

If you want some serious loony driving try the A9 (goes North from Perth through Pitlochry and up into the highlands past Kingussie and Aviemore - very scenic road and great fun but too many people going too fast and overtaking madly have led to some horrendous accidents - it has one of the worst records for accidents/deaths in the UK. I love the road but have been scared out of mind by some of the antics ive seen.

The A90 is a daft road to try to set a speed record on, there are at least 10 cameras each way on a 60 mile stretch between Aberdeen and Dundee and lots of unmarked rozzers about ! A82 is a laugh, no doubt, but only if you can get past all the caravans and coach trips ! :)

agree with you greg - I think I read that the bloke that got done for the 156 mph had actually been clocked speeding by cameras and cars in 6/7 different places during his little jaunt  - obviously a bright lad! :stupid:

Its not unknown for me to have a rather heavy right foot at times ;)

But 156+ mph?

Come on, any sane person has to admit thats just sheer madness.

Well , if its madness you are after....Ive just picked up a little DVD (whilst I was in Halfords , picking up a silver whip bee sting ariel...:) ) called "Getaway in Stockholm" , it has 2 parts , part 1 is a (proper ie aircooled) 911 with 3 cameras attached basically breaking every law in the book , speeding , going thru red lights , more speeding ect ect...the noise the flat 6 makes is something else , as are the sparks from the front wheels during the heavy braking!! (yes he really was pushing it THAT hard!) The 2nd part is a race (on the same streets in Stockholm a year later than PT 1) between a 450 BHP Escort WRC Cosworth and a 450+BHP Supra Twin Turbo , and these cars make the 911 look as fast as a fiat panda!!! At one point the speedo of the Supra is off the clock at 300KPH (im sure thats over 180 MPH , and this on a normal urban 'motorway'...admittedly at 6am!).....and the 'Polis' try and give chase in their Volvo estates (probably T5s)....has anyone else seen this film??

Haven't seen it, but heard a fair bit about it. I've seen Rendezvous, which I

believe was the predecessor to these kind of videos. Pretty simple concept -

one Ferrari, one video camera strapped on the bonnet and one early morning

French capital city.

Quite hard to see on the copy I have due to the light and high compression, but

it sounds pretty nice! :D

Rob.

The picture and sound are 1st class on 'GIS' on DVD , i think its a bargain at 14.95 from Halfords! (mind you , i am an aircooled 911 lover , so it was gonna get bought even if the quality was sh*te!)

Oh, yes, I notice I didn't mention in my post that Rendezvous was filmed back in

the 60s/70s, so I wouldn't be surprised if "GIS" was a touch better for quality! ;)

Rob.

What was the one called with a motorbike hurtling round the Peripherique in the early hours of the morning?

Nick

Would it be 'Black Prince' you are referring to? It is availible from Duke Video , but only on VHS , not DVD. Oh and FYI , "GIS" pt 1 was filmed in 2000 , pt 2 in 2001 , so i think your right re quality!

Isn't the film Rob's referring to about a Ferrari in Paris?
