Not looking too good, In every sense!

Featured Replies

Just as a related update, on my way to work in the morning I always see a lovely forest green VW Bora TDI (all red TDI), which I've admired from afar as a nice tidy example. But this morning the whole thing was covered from bonnet to boot in white gloss

Some 5hithouse had obviously just emptied the whole tin over it. I think this was a deliberate targetting though, because there's plenty of newer, more expensive cars up that street (Audi A4 3.0T Cab, Porsche Boxster S, Audi S3, etc..) and this was the only car 'done'.

Before anyone asks, I didn't take a pic because I didn't think :(

What will the owner have to do to get that off? Will it even come off or will it need a respray? I was thinking plenty of white spirit but would that damage the paint underneath? I'll be checking local news to see if anything gets mentioned

As the paint on the car wasnt preped, the gloss wont have stuck properly. Bit like painting over gloss without sanding. Bit of elbow grease/jet wash, and it will simply fall off. Same applies really to any paint and markerpen. Had silver spraypaint on a car, which came off after a good jet wash session ;)

I don't know my stuff.. but could a vinyl wrap be a possible fix?.. Remove and Neutralise the Stripper.. sand smooth, paint purely to re seal and then wrap?

I'm back !

First of all, thankyou for all the comments, it's nice to know people are behind me.

There's been no reasoning as to who/why this was done, the only thing i can take at it not being personal, is mine wasn't the only car targeted.

As Mike said, the cars been declared a total loss.

Cost of repairs came to £3600, and they're paying out £3900 to me, which to be fair, on a 131k Fabia that needs a clutch fitted, and a new wheel bearing, was probably more than i would've got if i'd sold it private.

I was given the option to buy it back for £975, but if i done this, the insurance company want it repaired by myself to keep my policy going, otherwise if i wanted to buy/sell it as is, i'd need to cancel my policy.

Find it a bit strange, but there you go.

So at the moment, it's getting collected on Monday by D.Hales, so it'll head to Bristol i imagine.

The cars looking a bit worse for wear now, most of the paint has come off, so it's down to bare metal in most parts.

Today will be spent taking off a few parts.

312's

Springs

Spacers

LCR splitter..

It's already been raped of a few items from other Brisky owners lol

All in all, i'm gutted to see it go, it's been a great car, and apart from a diesel leak, it's never let me down once.

Johnny

i havent posted in this thread so far but gutted for you johnny, very sad to see this happen :(

hope the lad who has done this gets run over, by a Fabia !

You know how i feel Johnny. :(

As for the wee scumbags that did it, i hope they get their hands cut off.

This stupid "gang" thing is out of order.

Reading the bit above about the guy with the knife engraving peoples cars.

My mate had that done to the roof of his Ibiza recently of a local "gang" not so much gangs cos if i cought them one by one they'd have 2 broken legs.

Scum.

Scumbags!!

No doubt this is'nt their first criminal damage they've inflicted, and keep on doing untill the police catch them in the act.

Many years ago a group of hoods threw a house brick at my car whilst I was sitting in it - now it was an M3 so you can imagine how displeased i was. I drove off and parked out of sight, then returned to "speak" to them. I got lucky and put 2 of them down before a platoon of hoods showed up and chased me the lenght of belfast.

Two lessons learnt that night, how satisfying it is the sound of their pain, and how being a fast runner saved my life.

I dont condone violence - I actively encourage it

Cheers lads.

The car was further stripped today, springs, 312's, spacers and the lcr splitter were taken off.

Was looking very sorry for itself, so i even gave it a wash !

I'm not a freedom member, so cant advertise, but if anyone has a set of oem alloys with legal tyres (dont have to be in a nice condition) i'd happily swap them for the 16" spiders, as they're quite rare, so would be a shame to see them scrapped.

If anyone local wants them...they'd have to take them tomorrow.

I dont want anything for them...maybe a few beers ;)

Car is now with me until Wednesday according to the salvage firm.

Anyone want the spiders for a swap for oem wheels ?

where are you based mate?

That makes me feel sick  just out of interest ...how many cars in the street at the time ....and why only pick on two ? I would be looking for someone who knows whos car it is and may have done this as revenge for something

wouldnt suprise me if it was something as simple as the w@nkers ran out of paint stripper or whatever they were using

having had my last octy jumped all over and written off i can feel the owners anger, sadness and madness for something like this to happen

i'm interested as im off to durham tomorrow, ;)

Well i'm based in Edinburgh, but cant travel as i'm at work i'm afraid.

It'll be sad to see it go, but at least you're getting reasonable settlement, plus a bit from the extra parts :)

Come on, throw £12 into Freedom and get the remaining bits sold :D

Steve

lol....i've no idea if i'll be a skoda owner for my next car.

Am interested in something at the moment though.

The only thing i have left to sell at the moment are the springs, as i'm keeping the spacers just incase.

So not really worth paying £12 to sell springs...

Very sad to see it go, i had a vision of this car going on and on and on... :(

Gutted to hear this mate! Its got to the stage your scared to park your car anywhere these days. People like this deserve to be bathed in paint stripper! Thats a no bad buy back price though and the vinyl rap idea could make it a cracking motor! Camo Vinyl? You know you want to Johnny!

I'll have you know i spent 30 mins on mine today:rofl:

Slacker ! Not your usual 45min effort....i'm disapointed ;)

Bennett, i did toy with the idea of vinyl, but it would still need flattened down underneath, lights etc are still gonna be knackered, so just saying cheerio to the old bus instead. :(

What possesses people to do this? Unbelievable.

there was a bit of a scuffle and the chap ended up with two broken teeth.
