Octavia DSG ESP Options

ABS = anti lock brakes, adjusts braking at each wheel to stop them locking up, giving steering control while braking

MBA = Mechanic Brake Assistance

MSR = Motorschleppmomentregelung, it is in fact the torque regulation. When shifting down swiftly, the wheels could lose traction on slippery surface. In such cases MSR (by using the ASR system) adapts engine RPM to stabilize the vehicle.

ASR = Skid reduction - cuts power to the engine when it detects that the driven wheels are skidding under acceleration (My car has this - does this mean it has MBA and MSR?)... - MSR very probably, not sure about MBA, although many O2 cars have some kind of BA

EDL = EDS, Electronic Diff Lock

HBA = Hydraulic Brake Assistance

In bold, hope it helps.

ESP = electronic stability programme

EDL = electronic differential lock

ASR = traction control (Anti Schlupf Regelung)

DSR = active driver steer-recommandation

ABS = anti lock brake system

HBA = brake assist (not sure, though!)

and there also is an uphill-start off-assist

see manual on page 195

You've forgotten XDS ;)

PowerMalc, no wonder these O2's are that big: all these goodies in one car...

BTW: xds, never heard of it... (is that in there, too?)

could HBA mean hill brake assist (or the uphill-start off-system?)?

Skoda have introduced XDS on VRS models as from week 42 build

Try this for a sort of explanation. It seems to be a Limited Slip Diff but controlled electronically

I've read the thread. Well, that's the EDL I mentioned - not a mechanical but an electronical diff lock (or limited slip diff).

What a relief, that leaves room for something else in my car! It is getting crowded inhere...

The 'extended' ESP (with EDL, DSR, HBA, ...) came with the face lift, earlier this year.
