What tyres for my Fabia? Definitive thread?

Featured Replies

Courtesy of Bigw2069's recent massive list of tyre threads posted in a recent tyre thread, this thread contains a very large list of tyre threads for the Fabia, and also some of my own compiled info about the fabia shoes :)

Standard tyre size on the Fabia VRS is 205/45R16.

You could always try a search for "Fabia vrs tyres" for more up to date info, or alternatively search for any one of the following commonly suggested tyres:

Goodyear Eagle F1

Toyo Proxes

Pirelli PZero Nero

Falken FK452

Continental SportContact

Uniroyal Rainsports

Kumho KU31 Ecsta

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo

If you're asking any of the following questions, this thread might be slightly helpful

1) What tyres should I fit to my fabia?

2) What are the best tyres for grip?

3) What are the best tyres for wear rates?

4) What are the best tyres for ride comfort?

Answers to questions 1 to four could be covered in any of the following threads, or at the other end of a search for "fabia tyres".

Which tyres? Poll

Absolute grip not important, wear rate more important

"Perform well in the dry, safe in the wet", noise level important

Buying tyres of the internet - question about experiences

General Fabia tyre thread

Decent grip in all conditions and "quieter than bridgestones"

Toyo Proxes vs Goodyear Eagle vs Pirelli PZero Nero

Kumho KH16 and Nankang Tyres

If anyone wants to PM me suggested additions to this thread I will be happy to modify this post and add them. :) Also could I please suggest that this thread is locked and stickied? ;)

Here Here! ;)

it still doesn't tell me exactly which ones i should buy though  :P

Great thread, should be a Sticky methinks!

Add speed rating and load index to standard spec? ;) speed rating is W not sure on the load index tho

I agree with above this thread should be a sticky or at least moved to the Fabia Technical Guides section.

Yegnold mentioned Bigw2069's big list. This is what he was referring to: Briskoda.net/fabia-i - What tyres do you use? It's post #5.

Michelins for longevity and the car driving straight

Toyos for track/fast road

i much prefer falken ze 912 over the 452

beter in the wet beter in the dry (marginaly)

and the 912`s dont screech on fast corners

Hats off to you for trying

Should definitely be stickied to hopefully cut down a little on the ubiquitous tyre threads! Don't think there's ever going to be a definitive though; everyone had different aims and expectations. Experience of reading them tells me this :) But at least this is a step in the right direction...

the thing is Steve , there are so many stickies on the Fabia forum, that we will soon have to go to page 2 to see the new threads

Yup, fair point Ric :)

That's why I suggested that this should be moved to the Fabia Technical Guides section, where all the useful and 'How to' type threads are placed.

Right I've come to a point where I'm looking for new tyres for my car :D

I'm looking for a tyre with:

1. A medium-soft normal tread contact area - not especially fussed about wear rate but around 10k of "normal" driving on the front would be ideal

2. Stiff sidewalls (maybe reinforced) so that the tyres don't flex under heavy cornering due to the fat arsed diesel engine of the Fabia.

I've tried:

Goodyear Eagle F1 - fantastic tyre especially in moist conditions but the sidewalls aren't very strong in my opinion

Toyo T1R - as above really, excellent when really pushing especially on track!

Kumo KU31 Ecsta - nice stiff sidewalls I found BUT the centre tread area was a bit prone to slipping in moist conditions - more so than the two above tyres.

Anyone got any suggestions? Would go bridgestone/michelin if the right tyre was available:)

I'd consider the Hankook Evo V12 as well:

You'll also find a page on Tyre Reviews with tyres that have been tried on a vRS. By no means comprehensive, but again - a good information source:

HTH,

Seriously looking at getting Uniroyal Rainmaster 2's fitted in the next few weeks. A local Tyre place in Nottingham will do them £74.60 fitted and balanced a corner, which sounds pretty good to me!?

Sounds a good price that and they seem to be getting positive reviews...
