Try different diesel from a different garage. I find massive variations between tankfuls even with V-power from the same garage.

Also try a fuel supplement such as millers. This gives me another 3-4 mpg.

Hi all just filled up again (3 click method) at the same petrol station and the fuel at 99.9p a litre again. I got £51 in the tank and the on board computer said i had done 466 miles with 40 left in the tank. Does this seam right?

Funnily enough I also topped up with 51 litres last night,

after 523 miles covered so 46.5mpg.

Although you've got a DSG which may drink a little more.

Also realised that during last week I passed 40k in the mkII in 16 months,

so it's now on 98.5k

I guess that why us dervheads worry about a few extra mpg,

as we actually drive a lot.

I was thinking about using millers, but would not the cost of millers cancel out any extra mpg you might actually get?

I have a 57' plate vRS 170TDi Combi with a Bluefin remap and 2 Thule bike racks on the roof.

On a 30 mile journey from Wellyn to E17 without bikes (A1M, M25, town driving, slight decent on alot of the journey where mpg shows ----) I returned 55mpg! I couldn't believe it. I've covered just over 9k now and its definitely improving with every mile.

On a 2-300 mile trip to Wales with 2 adults, a boot load of gear and 2 mountain bikes dragging through the wind, I can see early 40's. If its windy I get high 30's. I usually stick to 65 in a 70..

I'm going to have to try the Wellyn journey without the racks/bars one of these days - I reckon I could hit 60mpg easy.

Been doing some fill to fill comparisons on my 170CR Superb2

Its averaging over the last 3000miles almost 43mpg , best fill to fill was 47mpg

Best on the OBD was 59.6mpg but have got 55mpg+ a few times

It did this in France 3 passengers and a boot full of stuff

And an average of 43 isnt bad when you consider after an 1.5 hour traffic jam this was the average!!!
