Rear wiper weirdness

Featured Replies

If you don't get any water out of the jets, are you sure that the hoses are connected?

The joints can seperate if the jets freeze and you try to actuate the washer.

There was a recall for some Octavias because the rear wiper arm was not tightened correctly, have a look on the DVLA website and see if yours should have been recalled, although if you've owned the car from new, I would have thought that it would have been sorted.

Yeah hose is connected - I took the rubber hose off previously and washer fluid came out (& some brown gunk) . I did think about just replacing the spray head, as it has clogged b4.

My car wasn't recalled as the TMU number of my car was not listed for recall.

Yes, the rear wiper leaks water inside and fills up the gearbox which then leaks water/screenwash onto a circuit board build into the rear wiper assembly and can put the front wipers and headlamp washers on. As you can tell, I had this problem a few months back. A new rear wiper motor fixed it.

Thanks for that info , i will look into replacing the rear wiper motor asap i would never of guessed that the rear motor would of operated the front wipers randomly .
