Stage 2 vs Stage 2+

Featured Replies

Trust me the results are impressive ;)

Review coming shortly but for now who can guess what it made?

Do you find a noticable difference in acceleration and drivability over stage 2+?

Well lets see. I gained 62bhp over stage2+ does that answer your question?

Is that all:rofl:, jesus that's a nice gain, i'm assuming you were 280bhp beforehand so....342bhp!. How does it feel the extra 62 bhp? Did you lose anything downlow with the bigger windmill?

it might have done a carl and become less powerful

Trust me the car has far from become less powerful as someone i know with a new Focus RS found out yesterday ;)

I think you will find it's about 326bhp ;)

OOps my bad thought he was stage 2+ with approx 280bhp.

That's what I thought Micky. My car was making a pretty much identical graph to Carl's on the before run (260bhp,280lbft) and I have a graph showing both as a comparison they were very close.

The car now makes a mighty 321.5bhp and 310lbft of torque.

On the road, as I'm sure you can imagine, the car is absolutely off the hook! Very quick. It drives the same but just a lot lot more power

My turbo and injectors are being shipped today, can't wait now lol

Good stuff mate, glad you are pleased!

He was Stage 2+;)

An update on my predicament might help.

On the Dyno my car only produces 265bhp and 285lb/ft.

On the actual Road my car produces 282bhp and 331lb/ft :D :D

I'm not explaining any further than that as I have been sworn to secrecy ;)

Ahh Harry has let some of it outofo I will explain more.

On the dyno the Stage 2+ code that me and Harry were/are running is different to the code Steve helped develop.

On the Dyno for some unknown reason the car will not request Max boost between 2500 and about 3600 RPM. However as soon as you put it on the road it requests and makes a constant 2540mbar of boost between 2400 and 4200rpm before starting to slowly tail off.

An on road log of my car versus a log of Steve's old car and another stage 2+ car are virtually identical. My boost was ever so slightly higher in places but on average across the RPM band they were the same (within a tiny tiny percentage). Also My in gear times are identical to yours mickey.

So hopefully that will explain what is going on with My car and why Harry got such a big increase in Bhp.

well i just said**** me outloud and got a dodgy lkook from my wife when i read that.

harry, bet your well chuffed with that. 62bhp increase get in there. Now im more tempted, seems more cost effective.

I wonder why sibarts was only putting out 309bhp. you need to do those in gear acceleration times to compare to carls stage 2+ runs

i hope you wernt street racing carl, thats against the law:rofl: im not impressed with the RS, they had a couple at the ring on sunday and they were that much quicker on the straights than mine was. much better on brakes and corners though:O

I wouldn't really be concerned with Bhp figures. You can have 2 identical cars with the exact same mods and they will both put out diff figures. All sorts of variables come into play. Fuel used, way the car was run in from new settings the car is on etc etc.

Iirc Sibarts car got 320bhp when first done. Maybe once the ECU has learned then maybe the power is a little less for reliability. Also iirc Sibart has a VF Intake to Harry's EVOMS and Harry has a diff exhaust system so they could be a difference who knows.

I think Sibarts Torque Curve is slightly better aswell but I doubt there would be much if any difference on the road

As for street racing nope it was done on an airfield where i'm working :P

Carl:thumbup:

Keith said the wheels could have been spinning on the rollers slightly hence the graph. He said over a few hundred miles it will smooth out too. Feels great on the road.

Very nice Harry :thumbup::cool:

Steve

So any regrets in terms of bang for buck Harry?

None whatsoever Tom, it's fantastic - well worth the money.

Looks bloomin' sensational Harry  ...... plenty of :D :D I reckon ;)

I still just cant get my head around spending all that cash and loosing 20+ lb ft torque! :rotz: Amazed you feel it drives the same - I'd have thought it would spool and then feel very different compared to the stage 2+ 'all over by 5500rpm' levels of performance.

How much did it actually cost to get done Harry? (if you dont mind me asking)

Good luck with it

Lee

losing 20Ibft isnt so bad when you consider the 62bhp gain. and to be fair 310Ibft or torque is still a pretty collosal amount.

this artical was from performance car, its a good comparison for similar powered cars for in gear times etc. the leon times are unbelievable, ignoring the 0-60 time as iirc they couldnt get the power down in 1st and had to short shift to 2nd.

cant seem to make it bigger, so click open in another link, and zoom in using bottom right corner zoom function

Interestingly my car went on the rollers today on a Dyno Dynamics and made only 270bhp and 295lbft.

is it the same dyno as you used to get your old figures micky. its like carl said though, as long as the car feels as fast as it was, the butt dyno is what really counts

No it was a MAHA, everybody got low figures today. However the other dyno that i got 280+ Revo stage 1's were giving same figures as JKM's rollers. At least Turbo and injectors go in next week so my results today aren't really significant:D
