Stage 2 vs Stage 2+

Well Today wasn't good

The car produce 1/2 (yes thats right 0.5:mad:) bhp more than last time.

However we think we have an answer (of Sorts)

On the dyno the car is running 3psi less than on the road at low RPM

But we don't know why

Have sent keith some logs that were done on the way back and they are spot on for a Stage 2+ Car (hence getting similar in gear times to Mickey32) yet when the car goes on the Dyno it doesn't like something from about 2300rpm - 4000rpm.

So my next step now is to try the Dyno with a Different Ramp rate (dunno what that means but Keith said it gives the car more chance to build the boost )

After that we are all at a loss as to what it could be

So on the Dyno im producing 265bhp and 285lb/ft

On the road a conservative estimate is 280bhp and 325lb/ft

But i will only claim the Dyno figures and not the latter until it is Dyno proven.

Oh and i wont be going on Superchips rollers as that will just give me about 320bhp, 400lb/ft and 4wd all of a sudden :D

So a bit like Captain Kirk & the Star Ship Enterprise. The search continues :orb_upset:orb_upset:orb_upset:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Nightmare then really eh Carl.

The thing is, if you are happy with how it drives then just enjoy it :)

Good luck getting this sorted mate. I suppose it can only be either the type of load or the breathing/IAT if your on-road logs are looking good.

The thing is on the road the car produces 2560mbar Actual (it even hits 2580 actual at some points) from 2500ish rpm and holds that all the way to about 4200rpm then starts to slowly tail off (thats from 6 different logs at varying times on different roads so not a one off fluke)

Yet on the dyno the car never reaches 2500mbar it only gets to about 2430-2450 (however it doesnt request it either ) and at 2500ish rpm its between 2250-2290 mbar actual. On the Dyno it also shows no Timing pull whatsoever but on the road it shows highest of about -3.8% iirc and not for very long

Intake Temp was absolutely fine as well on the Dyno and the actual Air Intake rate was fine too.

Nothing has been changed and the logs were done about an hour after the Dyno runs on the way back to Folkestone so god knows whats going on

Is the air forced into the engine more while the car is moving through the air? Maybe it's making the turbo's life a little easier in getting the target boost pressure on the road. It really doesn't make sense though...

It's strange alright. Every other stage 2+ car on this forum that went to JKM got 280bhp.

Thats a proper pain in the ***. at least the car feels like a stage 2+ on the road which is more important than big figures on a dyno. try Impossible performance, they have a set of rollers there, they are in canterbury so pretty close to you carl.

How did your car fare against pete8tech vRS(iirc thats stage 2???) When im back in UK next month, we can meet up and we'll go stage 2+ versus stage 2+ on a load of in gear accelerations tests. if my car beats you you know theres something wrong with your map/car.

that doesnt explain the dyno issue though???

Keith has got back to me and said the car is performing exactly like a Stage2+ on the road so it must just not like the rollers.

So other than the RR result I'm more than happy with how the car feels and runs on the road and how the Data Logs look.

Oh well i think im just gonna give up. I know it's got 280ish Bhp and 320ish lb/ft but i'll only ever claim the 265 Bhp and 285 lb/ft till i get a graph to prove otherwise from JKM

No point in gettting one from elsewhere as that doesn't solve the problem if their dyno or dyno operator aren't accurate.

Carl:thumbup:

very true, very true, anyway its blue so automatically faster than everything else

reckon i should market the mod then carl . lol.

Wrong. Silver vRS' are the fastest :D

Just wondering but what tyres have you got on?

Just thinking maybe they are slipping or struggling to grip on the dyno but gripping fine on the tarmac?

Yes it's a random thought, but well if the car isn't requesting the same boost it is on the road something is obviously not right.

Harry, did you have your car on the dyno with stage 2+ and what did it give?

Wrong. Silver vRS' are the fastest :D

its proven. our car colour is called RACE blue, yours is merely just a silver;)

skoda didnt make this stuff up, its scientific fact

No, but I'll be getting before and after power runs when I get my K04 installed next week

I won't be far behind ;) What else did you have to get to make it fit or is it a straight swap?

that will be good. what about some timed runs in different gears so we can see the real time difference. looking at sibarts RR graph, torque on the stage 2+ comes in higher much earlier

Simon has a K04.

mis print there, I was comparing sibarts KO4 conversion dyno with other stage 2+ graphs taken at JKM RR days

It's being installed from tuesday (18th) and should be ready for saturday the 22nd

I'm gonna shoot some vids once it's done aswell, give you an idea of how it sounds :D

AYO.gif

OCT23VRS.gif

stage 2+ at 3500rpm is pulling peak torque of 350Ibft, the k04 just under 300Ibft, the difference though wil be traction, and smoothness in the driving though. K04 pips it at the higher revs there though, you can see the k03 is out of steam

give you an idea of how it sounds :D

Do you reckon it wil be louder?? are Ed 30 louder than GTIs, same exhausts will fit both turbos etc

But if you look at other graphs, that wasn't the proper stage 2+ graph. Look at the one for 280bhp. It holds just as well to the red line abiet less bhp though.

wasnt the proper one??

wasnt the proper one??

No, That was when stage2+ was in development and AFR's and boost were all out the window with that run,
