Stage 2 vs Stage 2+

Featured Replies

aht, didint know that!!! right. just need to find a graph with a more current stage 2+then

I still think a stage 2+ will have the edge when it comes to 4th, 5th, 6th gear acceleration between 2500rpm -3500rpm.

but i have to say after driving sibarts it was very smooth on power delievery, it almost felt as if you wernt going that fast but a quick look at the needle and you bloody were.

Tis true, that 285bhp run was the first incarnation of Stage II+ for a KO3 car and whilst it may look impressive would not have done the engine any good over a period as requested against actual boost along with AFR were all over the place.

These were the final results after much testing and tuning by REVO at JKM.........

The difference with the K04 power delivery is that it is progressive and constant, therefore slightly less urgent. I think in a straight line drag test the K04 car would be better as it wouldn't light the wheels up straight away.

Mine does.

:D

Stu in your opinion, do you think it's worth the money and hassle upgrading to a Ko4 from a stage 2+ car? I'm kinda will i or won't i. I suppose if the turbo was got cheap second hand it would be worth it.

If you are running a K03 at Stg II + then you are working it to its absolute maximum and IMHO you should expect a reduced turbo life.

The K04 setup can be expensive, depending on your current mod state and how cheaply a K04 comes along.

So the dilemma (Again IMHO) - Stage II + is far from ideal on a K03 car but if you are willing to take the chance then it's the cheaper option. If you want sustained reliability then the K04 is the way forward. As ever it comes down to budget.

I wasn't actually planning on doing the K04 upgrade before I bought it. It's only because I found one cheap on eBay that I realised it wasn't an opportunity to be missed.

I am planning on keeping my car for a good few years to come, so reliability is vital. The extra power I'm sure will be worth the hassle of doing it :)

These guys in the US are selling them cheap but there probably is no way around paying the vat on it when it comes here:

Just put in the part number and you will get the price. Works out £783.37 + P and P

Well i have just joined the ko4 club. I just bought one off ebay including injectors and connecting pipe work for £650. All i need is the DV relocation.

I wouldn't think that is going to be overly cheap. P&P on that is gonna be £50 or £60 at least I'd think and as you say the VAT element will hurt.

Nice price. I didn't see that yesterday when I was looking.

Well if you are running a stage 2+, it would still be cheaper to fit a replacement K03 every 60k or whatever surely?

I'd be doing it for driveability and pleasure only imho. :)

Carl obviously isn't trying hard enough when it comes to searching eBay

jesus, in a week we have trebled the K04 count on here. Whos next, not me, im brass:rotz:

There are 2 reasons for that.

1. I do have to work occasionally :P

2. I now have different plans which will take longer to do but be a lot better in the long term ;)
