by pass the intercooler i reckon, got to be a first that goes wrong somewhere, there is'nt anything in the pressure side other than the cooler now.

If there was a problem with the cooler i don't think that pipe would swell to be honest.

Carl:thumbup:

yep , that makes sense , if its swelling that much , why the bloody hell is it loosing boost tho

Maybe it's not

I've just been reading up and even though it might not be leaking if it's swelling that could be the problem. But will wait and see what Mickey and Harry say tomorrow

I'm still clutching at Straws but im going to ring a few places tomorrow to see if i can get a Silicone one.

Carl

I do hope this is the answer. :)

Carl

It couldn't be all these 600 mile to the tankful economy runs making it think it's an oil burner could it ?

Just a thought

Seriously though, you must be thoroughly p*ssed off with it, so I hope you find the cure soon.

Wouldn't like to see you really angry !

Bryan

its the bloody swelling thats doing it , pressure is force x area , the pipe swells increasing the area = pressure drop.

once the pipe has reached its maximum it builds the pressure , thats what were seeing on the mapping as overcoming the leak.

just jumped out of bed to pm you lol.

Just wondering is there any way you can reinforce the pipe as I'm assuming it's not one you could get a metal version made for.

he's actually really good about it tbh. thought by now he would be well fed up but , nope pretty stable , if its not this pipe tho i'm just running off and hiding.

getting soaked every 5 mins doesnt help tho

yeah mark its a double bend so it would be hard.

new pipes ordered for tommorow so that will help lots.

if not i reckon its maybe worth trying that plastic strapping stuff you get on big parcels.

just literally got up out of bed as its bugging me , the penny dropped about the swelling and the strapping as a possible fix.

This is the bit that is swelling Silicone Throttle Body Hose

You probably could get a metal one. I know you can get a full silicone pipe that goes from the intercooler to the Throttle Body and one that goes from the Turbo to the Intercooler.

But to get a Metal one made there would then be the problem of connecting the pipe to the Throttle body. It would need to have seals on it and then be bolted in.

You would probably need a new throttle body manufacturing tbh if you were to go that route.

If this is the solution then i will be investing in silicone hoses.

I had a thought last night and basically my car (in Theory not Dyno proven) is running about 280bhp and 340lb/ft give or take. Thats a 40% increase in bhp and a 70% increase in lb/ft maybe the pipe is just not made to withstand that much pressure (dunno what the Stock psi and Stage 2+ psi are) so will no doubt happen again. But that's only if this is the Problem. I've sent Keith at JKM a video of what is happening to see what he says.

I can just see what's going to happen. I'm going to chase this swelling all the way back to the Turbo:rolleyes:

mine doesnt swel,l had a look this morning and mine doesnt do anything, im not running your level of boost, or power but you can guarantee that it isnt right if it swells.

lets just hope that is the problem, and it can be sorted.

My initial thoughts are with the intercooler and interconnecting pipework but I know you've checked this but it may be worth looking at the 'O' ring seals to make sure they are unperished and seated correctectly.

Been on hols so will answer your PM shortly Carl.

done em steve, had em out cleaned and reseated.

carl have you ordered an OEM pipe to replace the balooning one or have you gone for a forge pipe.

There's no way the pipe should be swelling significantly. I'm confident it is your problem. :)

I wonder why it would be swelling? Because just revving and no load on the engine i didn't think there would be much boost. If it's swelling some restriction somewhere? I think there are flaps(tumbel flaps?) in the intake that vary with load i wonder if they are sticking? They are known to give problems.

tom i'm confident it will work , i dont think its a boost leak , more a boost drop till the pipe is fully stretched which is what the loggings showing

if its swelling whilst parked up and reving i bet its even worse when its underload. hope this sorts it.

Just checked mine and it does swell and contract a little nothing major and i have no issues.

carl, any luck with that pipe sorting your car yet

No mate :(

A massive massive thanks goes to Pete. for the past 2 days he has been trying to sort this with me. Even swapping bits from his car with mine to see if that cured it. Top bloke and big thumb up to him for going above and beyond

I'm thoroughly hacked off now. The whole system has been thoroughly checked 4 TIMES now. Im getting a new PCV today to see if thats the problem.

After that there is nothing else it can be.

Weird thing is if i feed the power in the car feels rapid in any gear. However if i floor it it seems as if it gets overwhelmed and takes a little bit to catch up.

It's going to a REVO Dealer up here a week on monday and it's staying with them for the day to see if they can diagnose it.

Carl :(:(:(

Exhaust restriction Carl?

If all else fails throw your money at something new for the engine bay ;)
