CAR STOLEN: AX04 FUD from Leeds city centre

Featured Replies

Silver Rover 75. Stolen approx 1-2 hours ago from George Street in Leeds City Centre. Appears to have been lifted as they didn't have the keys. Have checked with the local council that it hasn't been towed.

Keep your eyes peeled chaps. Not a nice experience for my Grandparents who are in their late 70s on a trip away from home :(

Not good at all - hope it get sorted.

Although i wouldn't have thought even Leeds scum would have sunk low enough to steal a Rover 75!! You sure your Grandparents haven't just forgot where they parked

being leeds scum myself :rotz: i must admit i wouldnt park my car in any of the streets/open car parks in leeds city centre, full of **** heads and druggies, i once saw i guy walking down kicking every car hard, as he passed it, i would ave gone over and give him a kickin myself but this guy looked seriously off this planet

its funny though as said on radio today that leeds is the worst city for crime out side london. hope they get it back though in one piece mate and im really not trying to be funny when i say this but are they sure that they definately were parked there, im from leeds myself and i always get confused in the city centre streets

being leeds scum myself :rotz:

was meant as even the "scum in Leeds" rather than "all in Leeds are scum" no offence intended

haha no worries mate non taken, i know what you mean though, 90% of this city are scumbags, i avoid the city centre like the plague now, its getting like london, wouldnt mind but george street is right next to the market and right next to a police station! and theres no witnesses at all, makes me sick

Yes, it was parked up near the Police Station! They were at the market.

well im certain theres a few cameras around there, if you can persuade the police to do their job they might find who did it, i know its no real consolation but tell them next time to use the ncp garage the other side of the market, multi story and ticket controlled, or the light, but that would be a long walk back to the market

My late grandfather had a car nicked, striped and dumped in leeds.

Basically they wanted the engine to fit in another car as it was the same as the sporty engine in the smaller car.

FWIW if it's a rover 75 with a larger engine or turbo engine that would potentially fit in a poverty spec ch*ved out BMW, I am afraid you will probably find that is where it's heading.

Surprised they'd go to the lengths of striping it before dumping it :(

Or stolen and stripped for parts.....

Theiving scummy never do wells!!!

Ahh man, that's terrible. Especially as they're left stranded.

Hope everything works out mate.

Steve

Feeling for your grandparents mate. That area of Leeds is quite bad. ALL my experience of crime is in that area of Leeds. With the proximity of the mahoosive Police building, you'd think it would be quite safe. I tend to think it isn't the 'Leeds Scum' that cause problems, it is people who now live in that area from other countries that cause the problems.

I hope they get it back, err no actually I hope they get anything of sentimental value back and enough money from insurance to buy something VAG :D

Well they're back home, locks changed (there was a set of house keys inside the car) and he has my other half's car for a few days.

Hopefully the payout will be reasonable and I can get them into an Octavia (he really likes mine).

Rotten barstewards.

They wanted the engine to turn their small car from a banger to the sporty version, because the engine was the same engine as the sports version of the smaller car.

Coppers said they took the bits they wanted and left the rest.

To the OP, I hope they get over the stress and things get sorted quickly.

Sorry, it was my purile attempt at humour, as you'd only put one 'p' in stripping, thereby giving a completely different meaning of putting stripes on the car :D

Doooohhhh

I'm too tired to notice these things today, so I'm off to bed.

Whenever we go to gigs at the Cockpit in Leeds, we always pay to park in the relatively safe but dear Qparks rather risking on street. Its a long walk home otherwise & a pain sorting everything out.

Sadly, your grandparents will pay more for their insurance now ad infinitum too.

Will keep an eye out for all the good it'll do. Effing Leeds. :( So glad we don't live there any more. Never seen so much broken glass from smashed car side windows as on Bowman Lane where our flat was. Leeds is also the only place I've been given ridiculous parking tickets outside London. If you do need somewhere to park for Leeds city centre, Costco car park is good - less than 10 minutes walk into the very middle.

Sound very strange to me does this... I have never known a car get stolen from the city centre on the back of a recovery truck :confused: !!.

This is my patch and I am on at 2.00 pm, so will do a bit of digging and let you know !!

i salute you;)

Sorted it.... went looking at 3.00 pm around the neighbouring streets, and there it was parked up on Lady Lane (3 streets away from where it was allegedly stolen from), locked and secure, with no damage.

Phoned your grandad, and gave him the good news, and suggested that he may have just "misplaced" it, but he was adamant that he had parked on George Street, but he was nevertheless very grateful, and said he would make arrangements to come and get it.

Phoned him back at 10.00 pm to make sure he had collected it and got home ok, and he then admitted that he had obviously had "a senior moment" when he parked it, and had then gone back to the wrong street !! Doh !!!!

Never mind...all's well that ends well :thumbup:.

A happy ending, very good.

 @ "senior moment"

Tell him to get a bright orange car!

Glad it's all ok though :D
