Tyre Pressures

Featured Replies

Hi

Could someone tell me what are the recommended tyre pressures for my 1.9 TDI Roomster with standard wheels and tyres? The filler cap pressures seem to be in Bars? but my local filling stations air lines are in PSi. I know it must be somewhere in the region of 30 to 40 but any advice is welcome.

Thanks

Try the following link Tyres :: Tyre Pressure Search

As you will note, you need to enter your vehicle registeration. Works well, but has overtones of Big Brother (George Orwell, not the other one)

Doesnt work if you have different wheels to std spec ;)

If it helps, I have a converter on my iphone and 1 bar is 14.504 psi and 2 bar is 29 psi, 2.5 bar is 36.26 bar. If you post your numbers in bars, I'll convert them for you.

Hi

Thanks for your info. The tyre pressure search works well ( but i'm probably on Kwik Fit's mailing list now) lol

It doesnt give the fully laden pressures which are 2.3 bar front and 3.2 bar rear.

Hi

Just checked on Gadgetman's converter and fully laden is 33psi front and 46psi rear.

Thanks for the help!

I am curious too.

I have changed my tires to 17in 205/40/17 tires.

Do I still pump to 230psi front and 310psi rear?

310psi sounds on the high side.

Is it ok to just pump 230psi all round? I mostly alone or just 1 or 2 passengers.

Strange, I already replied but the post is missing, but my conversions are the same as gadgetman's. But 3.2bar seems high and on a recent holiday towing a caravan and well laden, I chickened out and only went to 3 bars on the rear.

ruzhyo, 230psi front and 310psi would be high, I think you mean 23 and 31psi, or was it 2.3 bar and 3.1 bar. None of them sound right but I don't know about the 17 inch tyres.

I dont think I will be putting 46 psi in the rear anytime soon.

Just looking at some old threads and pressures for 205/40/17 tyres are quoted as 36 psi in the front and 34 psi in the rear

The 2.3 bar (33psi) front and 3.2 bar (46psi) rear are the specified pressures for fully laden.

Oh so sorry! I mean Kpa hahahah

Kpa would be 248 front and 234 rear for 17 inch tyres according to the old thread
