Oil in the piston chamber on a derv = BAD right?!

Featured Replies

Been told that my Dad's missus' 330D has died. Lots of oil in the cylinder bores. Does this mean shagged piston rings / something else? A big fix? Never really dealt with anything like this before (and not really going to, but would be nice to pass on some advice)

I thought the 3.0 litre BMW engines were meant to keep going and going. This one's @ under 100k miles.:thumbdwn:

Could be a failed turbo charger.

ISTR that there was a recall for a liner issue on some BMWs; maybe start by asking a main stealer if they can check the chassis number for outstanding recalls?

Could be a few things, either way, you don't want it to start burning the oil as you'll be up a very serious creek without a paddle especially if it's Auto!
