vRS or Cupra R ? ? ?

Featured Replies

tbh i bough and octavia because i couldnt afford a LCR/S3 at the time. sounds like he would be better off with an LCR the octy al beit a great car is a warm hatch whereas the LCR is more hot hatch imo.

the 210 and 225 have a few bits different in the head iirc with one having hydraulic something and the other not. but the difference is nigh on negligable the only reason the 225 engine came about was because audi dudnt want to have a seat with the same power as there TT but it didnt last long!

the 225 leon also has interior updates aswell iirc.

Maybe I need to save up for an old RS6 .

Then save up the extra for when the suspension goes (and most warranty companies won't cover the suspension!)

horses for courses i think , i have had a revo'ed cupra r and now have a revo'ed octy.

really miss my cupra but the mrs found it claustrophobic , had front and rear arbs on it that really did work.

octy is more refined but heavier tbh and not as quick lots more room and seems rarer.

if i was being totally honest, i have seriously considered going back to the cupra even to the point of looking on pistonheads for a low mileage 1.

seats are way better for me in the octy as the cupras are too wide unless you can find a rare recaro upgraded1, brakes are better in the cupra with the brembos tho.

Off topic but i think the taxi companies in Bournemouth got a multi-buy discount on skoda octavias!! Seriously i've never seen a taxi in Bournemouth that isnt a skoda!

80%+ in Newcastle are black octavias... ive gota drive round with my doors locked. they drive like loonys. The rest are 7seat fiats n vectras.

If your guna get one make sure its a different colure to the local taxis... but it dose come with perks, like you get let out by taxis in quos or junctions as they automatically assume I’m a taxi.

sorry to any taxi drives on the forum that dont drive double the speed limit...

Has anyone got stats on which is more likely to get Stolen/scratched/paint stripper?

All three can be tuned/modified to similar levels. the Cupra R is the best out of the box for driving but it depends what they want from their car? I went for the 4x4 as I wanted the winter ability and the size of the boot but I am really liking the low key look(especially at the traffic light grand prix :D)

Cupra r is imo the better car. But I would go for a MK1 S3. Older car but what a car. Just look at how much early cars with 100k on still pull. Remap it and what an understated performance bargain....

Completely agree.

Older car but what a car.

Don't forget that older cars with extra HPs also tend to me more worn out. So next owner always has to do extra chores and fix parts that ordinarily wouldn't need fixing.

The vrs has nicer wheels. :-) also i have red vrs, my neighbour, taxi driver, bought a red octavia! They sit beside each other!

Thought id pitch in on this thread seeing as i have owned both of these, had the VRS now have the Cupra R. The VRS is the more practical choice, bigger boot, and cheaper to run but performance wise the Cupra R wins hands down on all accounts,i had my octy remapped and it still didnt come close to the LCRs performance so i gues it depends what you want in the car,the VRS is a good compromise of practicality and performance where as the LCR is more out and out performance.
