Octavia VRS personalised number plate idea for someone

Featured Replies

Been playing about on the DVLA number plate site just now out of sheer unbridled boredom, trying out ideas (although I'm not intending getting one). I found VR51 OCT which with a bit of spacing looks pretty good... DVLA Personalised Registrations - View your personalised registration plate on a car . I do not endorse creative spacing in any way and I in no way should not be fined please.

Not too bad for £245 inc fees if plates are your thing.

obfuscation for the good

You copying my ideas again :P

except with a bit of "mater style spacing" you will almost certainly land yourself with a £60 fine...

and of course Wega will land a £60 fine for "aiding and abetting" for suggesting said spacing (you heard it here first folks...)

Meh, folk'll have to select Skoda -> Octavia from the drop downs themselves, it wouldn't link. Does look better on the Octy pic, but it's a shame it's not a VRS.

you can get a fine for spacing on a number plate? seems a touch harsh for spacing alone, its when theres screws to make E's look like C's and 8's to look like 0's and when a letter or number is completely mishaped like 5 to look more curved like an S that needs punishment

Mis-spacing, wrong font, badly placed screws.

All come under "misrepresentation" I believe and attract the same fine and possibility of losing the plate.

it has got so bad that you can even get a £60 fine for not having the British standards kitemark somewhere on the plate...

In fact ANYTHING that does not fall within the legislation for number plates can (but not necessarily will) land you with a fine.

I particularly like the black and silver plates on post 1973 cars... and those that are deliberately misrepresented (ie coloured screws, mis shaped letters and scripty type fonts...)

You can't outrun the long arm of the law.

They're really cracking down on any misrepresentation on number plates this side of the border, Fife police in particular.

Do you blame the police & the Government though??

It's not like there is loads of other crimes being committed like Anti-Social Behaviour, Murder, Drunk Drivers Etc is it

do you like the pressed steel plates in a german font tho? i asked my local mot tester and he said he would pass it on mot with those plates fitted

German FE font is not allowed. German pressed plates ARE allowed providing they are marked with the small translucent holographic DIN logo but you must use the prescribed BS AU 145d font on them. With such plates you DO NOT need the small BS AU 145d text about the plate supplier etc at the bottom of the plate. This is because The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 treat the registration PLATE and the registration MARK as separate entities.
