Broken Wishbone

Featured Replies

On todays commute the Fabia started playing up, pulling right under braking and left under power :thumbdwn:

Gave the front wheels a good pull and push and the wishbone bushes looked pretty soft so I assumed that was the problem, although I couldn't work out had it went from being fine to really bad so quickly. Picked up some new bushes lunch time, and sorted a tool out for fitting them. Drove carfully home from work and started removing the passenger side bush, it looked the worse. While under the car trying to saw through the bush I looked accross to the drivers side and noticed the wishbone has split  Thank god it didn't snap all the way accross!

I assume this doesn't happen very often, anyone else seen this?

PS. I'll get some photos of it at the weekend.

The actual wishbone itself?

Never seen that before.

Yup, I'll get it off on saturday and stick some photos up.

Woah!

OMG!

How's that happened then? I've twisted one mounting a kerb, but never snapped!

I dunno how old the car is, but I'd be inclined to get on the blower to Skoda UK as that sounds like a defective part to me!

Car is 2001 with 156k on the clock. Once it's off I should be able to see why it's bust, depending why I may call them as they might want a look at it.

Photo of said broken wishbone. Only a small part of the break is fresh, the worst of it must have been there a while

Dude - that's not good!! You had a lucky escape there!!

Ouch!

I'd be thinking the corrosion may have led to failure.

 kin hell

doesn't bear thinking about what would of happened if you had to do an emergency stop

I'll bet that's taken a thump at some time to start the crack - maybe a big pothole or kerb

Has the car ever had an MOT? Something very wrong for that to happen.

 Frighting if i had not changed the bushes on my wifes car a few months a go id be checking right now
