Fabia Vrs pricing

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

was suposed to be buying a vrs a couple of weeks ago until the garage phoned me up the night before to say the car had a fault and would be removed from sale....seems strange to me.

Anyway, still looking and found a 55 plate, 33,000 miles fabia vrs in black going for £7,150. Is that reasonable? I'll be part exchanging my car in so doubt I be able to get much off?

Let me know what you guys think,

Cheers,

Stan

seems steep to me :thumbdwn:

i paid £6500 in November for an 04 plate with 38k

Was that dealer or private?

dealer (albeit a Ford one)

Problem is, most for sale between £6500-£7000 are 05/55 plates that have done 50000+miles. Do think colour makes a differnce as well? Do black vrs's go for more? Theres another black vrs at a Skoda garage for £100 more with heated seats and cruise control but on 49,000 miles, does the mileage matter that much?

I paid £7500 for my 05 with 33k on the clock and fsh, it's in Silver

No mileage doesnt really affect values much

obv one with higher miles will be valued "less"

But a well kept hi miler will be a better buy than a thrashed low miler

You need to check, research and make your own judgement

i paid £7000 for a 06 plate from a dealer,with 29000,miles 1 owner...well happy:D

I paid £7k for an 06 plate in Red with 27k on the clock from a dealer............(June 09)

Thanks for the replies, by the looks of it, it isn't a bad price. Although the one from the Skoda garage might be a better buy even with more miles on the clock, heated seats and cruise would be nice and comes with 12 month parts and labour warranty and might be able to get a few hundred off as the cambelt will need doing soon.

Captain Sisko, whats the best way to tell if its been thrashed in the past?

Cheers,

Stan

Theres no 06 plates going for 7k with anywhere near 25,000 miles, more like 60,000! Is autotrader the best place to look, must be trade though.

For me the cruise control would be a big plus point. I love it. I'd ask the dealer to chuck in a cam belt service seeing as a '55 plate car would be around the 4 yr mark.

Cheers for the reply Hannibal,

I suppose it would be a good idea to get them to do the cambelt service, although just because its a Skoda garage doesn't mean they'll do a good job. I've heard good things about JKM in portsmouth so was going to take it there. Do you think 49,000 miles for a 55 plate is ok, this is my 1st diesel but I know diesel are better for the mileage.

Cheers,

Stan

Prices seem to fluctuate wildly for vRS's

Driving me mad.

One near my house has been dropped to 5750 on an '05 with 55k, and he will change the belt for me.

There is another from a different guy, will be back friday '05 29k for 5999, however he deals from home although he says he has card facilities.

Next one down the road is at 6.5k for '05 with 33k on the clock.

then there is a /04 with 74k on the clock for 5999

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

look in the small ads,i let my 07 vrs se go for 6500 with 18k on the clock, needed second service and 2 new tyres tho

6500 for an se! I would have snapped that up.

Quirrel, its a nightmare isn't it. I'll be looking at prices between 6500-7000 and I find 04 plates with high mileage!

I think if I could get the cambelt service included in the price then I'd go with the one from the Skoda garage but the mileage at 49,000 miles is putting me off. I want this car to last me a good 3/4 years and then get a good return on it.

Decisions, decisions!

Cheers guys,

Stan

^ That is exactly where I am at.

I will be putting on 30k+ this year and 20k next year.

Make me think that spending 6k on a car that is going to be worth diddly squat in a couple of years time is daft.

My other serious option (don't laugh) The Other Option

And take it down to Just Diesels to remap it to 145bhp.

I've driven it and it is fine. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Would be a good work horse for a year or so and would be worth sod a grand or so afterwards.

There is another one up in the borders near my folks that is '04 plate TDi 100bhp with only 23k on the clock, but that worries me that somebody has drivent to the shops and back everyday and that is it.

There is a 74,000 miler for 5k, site says it will take cards, called the lad and he just uses his old website and trades from home. Lost interest after that.

Quirrel, definitely get a Vrs. I've looked at all other options over and over and the Vrs is the best option, great performance, good economy, cheap tax, insurance.

Am I right in thinking you bought a Seat Cordoba with the same engine as the Vrs? I think as you probably did after you bought it, you should have gone for the Vrs, and you'll think that if you buy any other car now.

When I think about it, the residuals are pretty good for the Vrs, when you think my clio 182 was £15,000 four years ago, now £5,000 selling it privately:rotz:

Let me know when you buy your Vrs (make sure it is!)

Cheers,

Stan

^ Got the Cordoba and sent it back with problems.

Got trading standards onto an AC employee as well for trying to hide the separate warranty I paid for in the finance. Thought I wouldn't notice, even after I had asked him several times not to add it to the finacne and I would pay separately for it.

So have you still got the cordoba, or did you give it back?

Make sure you get a Vrs this time, I can't wait to get mine!:D

^ Gave it back due to them misrepresenting the contract and I managed to make it spit the dummy with the powersteering as well.

Loved that car for the three days I had it. 15 miles I drove it and the 2 days I had it parked on my driveway.

I'm going to buy that vRS tomorrow, after one last look over and see what I can see. Might need some tyres on it.

  • Author

Well, good luck tomorrow, hope all goes well and you get the car.

I'm sure you'll see me posting as soon as I get my Vrs!

Cheers,

Stan

My '55 plate has 60k on it. There have been one or two niggles with the car but I wouldn't say that any of them were mileage related. As I understand it the engine in the vRS has been in just about every Skoda, Seat, VW and Audi built since I were a boy. It's fairly well tried and tested.

In terms of other items like the clutch of the turbo........... lifespan is as much a function of driving style as it is mileage. You may often see people on here recommend you don't boot it from low rev's in high gears for example. Apparently it knackers the DMF.

RE the cam belt, it's worth remembering the dealer work should come with a (2 yr?) guarantee on the parts and (1yr ?) on the labour. I know nothing about JKM but it'd be worth checking that out.

I suppose the thing I'd be asking myself, if I were in your position is how many miles am I going to do. I had no qualms about buying a 14 month old car with 30k on it. They were motorway miles, and I knew I'd not be adding more than 12k a year. If you bought a 50k car and then added 30k a year as some people do that'd put you at 170k four years from now.............. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Good luck though, with whatever you choose.

Just traded my 56 plate vRS in at Chathams in Edinburgh. It has 32,000 miles, scratched alloys and a lot of paint chips and needs 4 new tyres. They gave me £6000 for it and I reckon it needs about £1,000 on restoration. I'd expect them to sell it for about £7,500 ?

Ii would have given you 6k cash for it..,.....:(
