Pics of my Boxster and opinions wanted on wheels

My 2p worth:

I was looking at Boxters before I got the .:R and I wanted one with these wheels too. They suit the car perfectly as its a simple design, they show the brakes behind clearly, and they are very easy to clean

Might it be worth you selling both sets of 18" rims and holding back till you find a reasonable set of Carrera wheels? The wait would definately be worth it and the search would certainly keep you occupied for the meantime :D

Looking at your previous cars, you don't do things by halves and I get the feeling that you'd choose one of the 18" rims in your original post, and then change them to the Carrera wheels in the future anyway.

That's kinda what I'm thinking although my plan is to put the new Boxster S wheels on and see what I think whilst still looking for a set of the Carrera's. I like the idea of the new Boxster S wheels though as I've yet to see a 986 with them fitted and they look small on the 987 like all 18's due to them using higher higher profile tyres.

love the split rims that are coloured but really dont like boxsters they are pants

Is this a subjective opinion from a previous owner or just someone who's never driven one and listens to crap?

Nice looking car Eddy and nice colour combo.

I'd try get some Carrera rims though as suit car really well..

I like the look of the GT3s on Manny's old car and I didn't think I would. I think that's because they haven't been refurbed like the ones you showed earlier Eddy :)

I'd still go with the plan of fitting the 'S' wheels and maybe keeping an eye on the market for some Carreras

Whilst looking for something else today I found a photo of the new Boxster S wheels on the older shape Boxster. I'm not sure about the bodykit but it gives a good idea:

They do look good

Never seen one of those "cowls" behind the seat before. I like the look of that:thumbup: IMO changes the car a lot, looks more like a 928 (I think but can't remember the exact model i'm thinking of:confused:)

Nice wheels, terrible other additions IMO.

Reminds me of a 356 Speedster in a weird sense, but not in a good way! It is an American's though, which might explain a lot :rubchin:

All those additions are genuine Porsche; I don't mind the speedster humps but think they are a bit pointless as you have to remove them to put the roof up. The side skirts are horrible in my opinion, he's also manually put the rear spoiler up for the pic which just spoils the lines of the car. The extra blocks on the rear bumper are standard to meet US law and look pants, I also think the suspension must be higher on US cars, it certainly looks higher on that one to me anyway.

I hope to do a trial fit on one side tomorrow so I can see what spacers I need on the front as the offsets are different to standard. The rears will sit a little further out so should fill the arches nicely.

This is what a Boxter should look like ;)

I love those Techart rims :)

I don't like that at all, sorry.

this is my opinion and yes i have driven a fair few boxsters and worked on lots too. and never liked them and have friends that have and still own them now. so i can say what im saying im not just one that listens to crap my friend:thumbup:

they are what they are i have never rated them but i drive a vrs and alot of people dont like them so its all each to there own:thumbup:

im sure eddy is happy and seeing what he has done to other cars im sure it wont stay standard for long;)

I discovered the other night that I don't fit in either the Boxster or the Cayman :rotz:

911 it is for me then! ;) If only.

Sat in 3 Panamera's too...I liked them in the flesh, and a hugely impressive interior...

As an aside, has anybody ever noticed that the indicator stalks in a Cayenne are almost identical to those on a mk4 Golf?!

Cayenne was a joint venture with VW as it's the same platform as the Touareg.

And it's why the Touareg runs a 5x130 PCD :)

I took a few pics of the Boxster with the new wheels on at the South Yorks meet today:

All you need to do is to change the indicator bulbs in the headlights to clear ones and the car would look spot on IMO. After seeing those photos, the wheels look really nice contrasting against the dark paintwork.

I still prefer the Carrera alloys though :p

Top choice I reckon Eddy

Good call on the indicators too :)

Where was the meet venue? Looks a nice spot.

Meet was at Rother Valley Country Park and the weather was very good.

I plan to do the indicators but it's an internal lens that has to be cut, not sure why they did this on the headlights when the the side repeaters and rear indicators are clear lenses. Reminds me of Golf Mk4 xenons which had orange lenses when the halogen units had clear ones.

Excellent choice. The wheels look really good against the dark paintwork of the car, very well suited.
