Front Arm - Front Bush - Worn ?

Featured Replies

is the front wishbone, front bush likely to be worn after 60k ?

the rear console bushes should be getting done next week but im unsure what to do with the fronts, one of the techys at work doesnt think they will be worn and to leave them, but we havent had a look yet

my console bushes havent collapsed totally so shouldnt be putting much extra movement/stress on the front ones, in fact Awesome described them to me as only having slight play (consoles)

im probably not going to go down the powerflex route you see, and ive read that the fronts might not need changing as they can last for ages, but was just after a few more replys on the subject

When Ross & Ali at unit 18 did my consoles they did the front bushes at the same time:thumbup: and I did notice a vast difference in the control.

I had powerflex ones in the front along with the cupra console's:)

Unfortunately when Ross took the suspension apart he noticed that my anti-roll bar had a broken collar so i had that done at the same time:(

HTH

I think most people have powerflex put in the front at the same time, saves another job later on.

the answer is, not in the slightest !

not only are they not worn there is zero play in them, so much so i think in my position it would be a waste of labour costs to fit the powerflex bushes, so they are going back if they can or up for sale on here soon if anyone needs any

labour costs will be hardly anything as they are mega easy to change, and for the sake of £15-20 i would do it at the same time, otherwise you could end up paying the same again for having the fronts changed,

they were in the same condition id expect a new bush, or for that matter, the new powerflex bushes which were going to replace them

Hmm makes me think if it's worth while replacing worn ones with the poly or just buy new oem ones.

Hummm, I think that you will find that there are no oem ones available - they are part of the TCA - the folk that change them cut the oem one out and fit a two part poly one.

Would a new wishbone come with a new ball joint? If it does then you have to weigh it all up.

Trouble there is that the lower ball joint will be available on its own for far less money - the wishbone rear bush is not actually part of the wishbone, the "pin" at the end of the wishbone fits into the bush that is in the console.
