Just found out my octavia is remapped!!

Featured Replies

When i first brought my vrs i found out it was mapped,it was terrible too much power and torque, hitting boost limiter and unable to use 95 ron fuel also would only do 25mpg at best, contacted the selling company who paid for it to be put to std.

People who's used awsome gti would you reccomend them?? I've spoke to Sarah she seems really nice I want a few bits and bobs doing and been looking at using them :-)

Yes!

chicken_eyebrow, that seems to be the problem that mine is having. When I've got a day off, I'm gonna scrutinise EVERYTHING on the engine i.e. all vac lines, fuel lines, boost lines etc to find out if there's anything amiss. If everything is OK, then I will probably go back to awesome gti and get the trial APR map.

Oh, and crowdtrain, YES!

If you can get it VAG-Com'ed see if there are any fault codes that might point to a hose leak or a failed N75 or N249. If you're getting it remapped again then hopefully they will stick it on a rolling road first anyway and fix any problems so the car is healthy before the new map goes on.

Ye, I might do. I have vagcom anyway, so might do some boost and AFR logging etc., see what I can find.

I bought my car from them. It's fast and up to now reliable. Great service to

UPDATE:

Had a look round the engine bay, checked and cleaned out every hose, tested every valve and solenoid, including the dv, did the tt wheel arch vent mod, cleaned the throttle body, aligned it with vagcom and run a bottle or stp fuel cleaner through it, and so far:

IT'S STILL THE SAME!!

I'm starting to think it's just a quirk of the map. It seems that if you build the boost up slowly, it pulls fine. If you suddenly floor it, it had the hesitation. Weird!!

What does everyone think to APR remaps? From what I can tell, they are very smooth, which is what I would want.

If your in Uddersfield mate why not pop over to see Paul in leeds(RS Tuning)? think his custom maps are similar in price to the APR ones and with him your guaranteed a good drive that makes the most of the car.

can I jus ask? do you travel round near the stadium at all and thru Mirfield? I go back up to see family every so often so Ill keep my eyes peeled for you

forgot to put who paul was lol

TBH, I don't go into town that much. Work in wakefield, so I'm over there most of the time.

Was gonna go to see rs tuning before I found out I already had a remap, but i like the options you get with the apr maps i.e. anti theft, fuel settings etc.

Who knows though, can't afford a map at the minute, so will have to save up and see which I like the most. May get a trial map from apr to see what it's like.

good Idea mate and if you dont like it Paul has a nice toy he can use to get in to remap ur car as the APR trial blocks the ECU so in theory only APR can remap ur car. (found that out the hard way)lol

ive been told there is a place in Osset too but never been,

Didn't know that, but definitely good to know.

I've just got one more thing to try:

http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/vrs-overboosting/96591/3/

The reason I think it might be this is simples.. When I floor it up a really long hill, it pulls fine to 3.5k, then seems to surge on an off all the way to the redline.

my old upsolute(5H1TE) map did that. pulled ace till 3K then dropped right off and you hit the windscreen then pulled more then off again, was not nice.

good luck sortin it mate.

Does anyone think it may be the DV causing it?

I've had it off the car and done the whole pushing the diaphragm up and putting my finger over inlet etc, and it looks to be OK. However, this is at normal atmos. pressure. At full boost, it may be a different story.

I can definitely hear the dv when I let off the gas, normally has a nice pssht to it, but it sometimes sounds like the diaphragm is sticky. Sounds a bit odd, but that's what it sounds like.

Also, it just so happens that awesome have the forge 007 on offer, and I've been asked what I want for xmas :D

get one mate and get the yellow spring in it.

the sound will be a tad crisper and it will last a lot longer, mind for the price of them you can have 3 or 4 std ones lol

If remapped get rid of the standard DV - Forge is worth the money. My old standard DV seemed to be OK when out and tested but caused problems under boost and that was before any kind of remap.

Yello might be a tad to strong for that kind of Map on the.car I would tend to keep the standard green one in the forge DV to start with.

The reason why the yellow spring is used is beacause of the boost , over the standard green one that comes with the Forge 007P

I must admit , i have had the odd couple of calls in regards that a mapper cant put a map on over the APR trial....but very rare

Then when another mapper was usued for one of them , they had no issues

No APR trial will NOT cause an issue with getting another remap on

No bother at all as long as you use a reputable ampper

APR map used the green spring

This is because APR do not believe in using the boost to gain the BHP

That is why the APR map can be smooth , as it is fuelling and timing that they use to get the gains , rather than turning the boost up

APR are fantastic and are the only company that can do switchability using and OEM part (cruise control)

They have done lots of testing too , with all new premisis

APR have 3 fuel programs too , 95 , 98 and 99 RON fuels

There is throttle body reset , Fault code erase , valet mode (wont let the car rev over 4k RPM)

Anti theft (if the keys are stolen from your house , the car will not start at all)

Also standard map too

All switchable via cruise control

If you have cruise fitted already then we can do a trial map with all the options

Then if you like the trial map , you can give us a call we can take payment over the phone

We give you a 4 diget code to punch in to your cruise , then there you go

The full remap all ready to play

The options are all free just now with the APR , so yu end up with £500 worth of extra`s for free :D

Stunning!!!!!

APR Company Information

A little bit of an insite to their new building

Oooh and if you dont have cruise control , we are doing that cheap at the moment for £100 + VAT for Octy 1`s

So it will work as cruise control and work the switchability too

Oh and thank you for your kind words guys :D

WOW that sounds like an ace deal there.

and I like the Idea of the 4k rpm limit for others lol.

So they can`t tell how good your car is?

Bless the anti theft option is superb

With the amount of people that are getting the houses broken in to is amazing

But with the APR , they can`t knick it , just the keys ;)

Sarah

yea lol and it means that when you let someone else drive your car they cant rag it lol.(I dont need that poption tho lol as the car never goes out of my sight for long enough lol)

Sounds good sarah, just gotta find the dosh to get it done. Liking the idea of the 4k limit. Good for when the lass takes it out. :D

I'm really really tempted to get the trial map and see what it's like. As you know, I already have a map of some sort, but I don't want to lose it and then go back to standard if I don't like the APR one (unlikely).

I just have one question about the map. I'm looking at the apr site, and it lists 91, 93 and 100 octane options. It lists 215HP as the power figure for an AWP engine with the 93 octane setting. From what I can find 93 US octane is about equal to 98 UK (RON) octane. Does that mean I will potentially get 215bhp on the 98 setting, and a bit more on the 99 setting?

as a comparison. mine was just remapped and ran 202.71 at the clutch on first run, 197.91, then 193.81. torque 214.74, 221.10, 214.84.

i wouldnt worry at all, your best saving your brass and getting something that will handle more power rather than ploughing your brass into your vrs.

i remember when i had it RR, a guy with a black vrs remapped had a very similar result to mine too. but he wasnt happy because on a different RR he ran 230hp. swings roundabouts with peoples suggestions and advice.
