Some clarification needed

Featured Replies

I have seen the various threads about remaps pro and cons etc and have decided to go ahead with one from either Jabba or Revo. Haved looked at their sites but have a couple of questions.

If you have a Jabba remap can it only be reset to std by Jabbasport themselves

With the revo and the SPS1 is this something you can do yourself (for example if you put the car in for service and did not want to make it obvious from the driving experience that the car had been modified)

I know from the various threads here that no remap is undetectable if the garage or insurance company decide to dig into it, but if again for example your car was in for a routine service would it be immediately obvious to the garage that this is he case once the car is hooked up to a computer or would they need to specifically look for it.

Thanks

KOB

Pretty sure at routine service they only interrogate the system for error codes, which wouldn't be affected by a remap (at least, not a reputable one).

Sure someone with inside knowledge will be able to confirm/deny this though... :)

I don't think so. If you have the boost controller can you not turn it down low enough to give the impression of 'standard'? Or am I getting my wires crossed

That just about sums up the SPS1.

More or less true ;)

Though it's damn hard to drive with it turned down. My hand keeps reaching over to turn it up again :D

However, as this is a Fabia thread, the boost controller does not apply.

I keep doing this! :(

I just assume everyone drives proper cars.

What can you do?

Sadly arson is illegal, so i can only suggest reading the thread properly :P

Fair enough.

Damn the legal system and it's quirky by-laws.

Thread has a got a bit sidetracked.

Can anyone with knowledge of these know the answer to the above questions.

Will definately be going ahead with remap just trying to decide what would suit my circumstances best.

Thanks in advance

Kob which engine are you running?

If it's the PD then I'd still recommend the AMD One Click which i've just got. It came with the remap pre loaded. Put it into the OBD port uploaded the new map in about 4 minutes, you can then switch between upgrade and original whenever you want. Very useful for serviceing, mines a co car so got to be careful!!

Please note though AMD only do this for the PD engine.

Cheers for that. Should have made it clear. I am running a Fabia VRS. On the AMD remap how do you switch between the two. Is it like the Revo SPS1 where you plug in a small electronic box

The One Click unit is a small box that plugs into your diag port. You upload then remove the unit.

Yes, behind the little storage thingy ( V technical!) on the drivers right hand side is the OBD port. Just keep pulling!

Plug the One Click in and 1st it reads the original map ( approx 4mins) the buttons on the unit flash then it uploads the remap agian approx 4 mins. Then unplug the unit and away you go.

The diference between the Revo SPS1 (appart from the huge price difference!!!) and the One Click is that "I believe" with Revo both codes are on the CPU and the SPS1 just switches between them. Where as the One Click stores the code on the unit itself. I may be wrong but from reading all the threads on here, thats what I believe.

What swung it for me was the price difference Revo is about

I have been looking at AMD site www.auto-amd.com/home but cannot find aany refrence to one click. All I see is remap at

No your not its not listed.

I thought the same thing originally, send them an email. This is the reply I got back in August:

Hi Andy,

We just need the ECU number to check which data to upload before sending the unit out to you. This upgrade should give +35bhp and +40lbs of torque. The price is

Nope, the Skoda dealer can reflash your ECU to standard if they chose to ;)

 You won't believe how strict I was with my dealer NOT to do this. :D

But then they know my position with my car and is its out of warranty they respect what I do with it, and to a point, are even a little curious (new dealer so a little numpty with mod scene ;))

I assume if the ecu is reflashed to std then you would have to return to Jabba to get it reset or does the reeflash actually delete the remap.

If you had a one click or Revo with SPS1 and this happened would it be as simple as hooking up the electronic box and resetting back to more powerful settings.

Yep - basically. But Jabba have your remap saved on their system, so I believe to reload the same map again would only take them five minutes. If not its another couple of hours on the rolling road... I guess this is why they save all their maps.

Yep - basically saves you time in case the dealer fooks it up. Or they can't really with this. ;) Choice is yours though.

I asked my dealer if new software is ever released, and if so, do they check vehicles when they come in to make sure they have the latest software. The reply was that they cannot flash the ECU, only the factory can do that sort of thing.

Cheers

I dont think skoda could reflash the jabba chip because its a different type to the original. Hence why if you want APR or Revo instead you need to have the original chip put back in, Which jabba give you in a handy plastic container.
