Currently 3 used Snow-monsters advertised on Autotrader; the much advertised one at Benfield's, an Elegance TDI in London and an SE TDI in East Anglia.

"snow monsters" is it only me that cringes every time I read that on here?

Your'e not alone Dodgy. I can just about cope with Yeti but "snow monster" is a bridge too far. :D

I thought it was just a bit of fun.

But if you are taking it seriously, the term Abominable Snowman was not coined until 1921 according to wikipedia. Yeti is apparently Tibetan for "Rocky (place) bear". Anyone prefer this as a nickname?

Yeti is short and catchy enough to already sound like a nickname. But if you must have a nickname, call it what you like!

You could call it a "Yet". As in, "Has yours arrived yet?" :)

Great if you are after instant delivery. But I'd wait the build time and obtain discount through Drive the Deal which gives me control of options and would prob workout at about the same price as dealer's 'hammered' ex-demo

Noticed recently the number of ex-demo Yeti's on Autotrader has been in decline, there are currently 5 ( one might be new unregistered) most are SE 140. There is currently the Benfield of Harrogate Elegance 140 demo which I think was the first to be advertised, still there and now less than £19,000 with options; park assist being one stated.

Got my Ex Demo. Test drive on the 14 Nov. I loved it and said do you want to sell this one. It was outside my house on the 17 Nov. No VAT and only 1500 miles on the clock Well pleased and I am getting loads of "Is that a Yeti looks"

Browsing the used site again and spotted a 2wd Elegance TDI CR with sunroof and chrome side steps, in Amazon green with gobi interior; fairly new at November 2010 reg.

Spotted an odd thing; Marlborough Skoda down (or up) in Isleworth have two 140 Monster ;) demonstrators for sale, both registered in November 2010. However they appear to have originally been registered by one of DM Kieths Yorkshire based dealerships :wonder:

Snow Monster was a name gown by one of the early members of this forum who took delivery and it has stuck.

TP can expand more no doubt. He is waiting for his 3rd Snow Monster.

Some of us older owners like the name Snow Monster, and we've used it for a long time, and since a lot of us fall into the "grumpy old man" bracket.................

YOU'LL

OK OK OK  :whew:

When I was discussing a deal (on a superb) with my local dealer, I was told that Skoda aren't allowing dealers to order diesel as showroom/demo cars, are having to keep demo's for the time specified by Skoda and can only sell showroom cars if they have a replacement of the same model.

I think dealers get preferential treatment - both price and waiting time, for demo cars - I am not talking Skoda particularly. Then they are supposed to keep them for a period - I thought it was usually about three months minimum. Sometimes dealers take a flyer and sell their demo, and in that case it is not unknown for them to do a deal with the purchaser re a 'slight delay' in getting the amended registration document out. I have a friend in the trade who tells me this is quite a widespread practice.

My own SNOW MONSTER ( I don't mind the name - my dad always said ' I don't mind what they call me as long as they don't call me late for dinner) was an EX-demo - and I was very lucky to find one of just about exactly the spec I would have ordered. Otherwise, I would have preferred to have waited, or I might have bought something else. It was, as it were, placed before me and I bought it - I have no regrets at this 'coercion' to join the Yeti community! . But if you can tolereate a few thou miles on the clock, it is a way to get a car quickly, and save a bucketful of money, in my experience, and I have done it often. It has an additional potential benefit, in that any bugs have come to light and got fixed. They do happen.

Likewise. Test drove mid February. Loved it and said do you want to sell this one. On my driveway mid March with 3500 miles. Now at 14500. Has toured Europe twice and never missed a beat.

It's a great car and I don't regret for one moment buying an ex-demo car.

Me too! Great deal on an ex demo almost a year ago now and 17.5k on the clock. No untoward signs of 'demo abuse'. Could even sell it for a profit now!!

Demo for me too, whats good about demo's is there usually higly speecced out

Mine's Faintree Garage's ex demo model.

I live in France and looked around for a nearly-new Yeti and realised that a good proportion of those in Skoda dealerships here were ex rental cars. Rather than go down this route I struck a good deal on a new 140CR 4x4 "Expression" (top spec in France). Delivery? 10 days! However the top French spec doesn't match the top UK spec. No Xenon headlights, no CD changer, no bluetooth and puzzled looks when you suggest you might like a spare wheel and jack. Nevertheless I'm please with the car so far.
