Claying is EXCELLENT !

Featured Replies

Maybe you should follow Wardy's 3 step plan ! :)

Either that or lob a brick at the screen?

Without doing a long labourious search, do these aero wiper thingies I've seen you lot ramble on about sometimes make things any better?

Simple yes or no will suffice.

Don't like kittens anyway. ;)

Is that available from Halfrauds too?

I organised one of the group buys (not sure if that is the one Steve is talking about) and I found an envelope pre packed with 2 the other week.

If you were interested in them drop me a PM and I'll be happy to work out what they cost and what postage (first class recorded) would cost and we can come to an arrangement.

Hi Mark - yes, that would be the one :)

Andy2407 also organised a later one as well I think...

Steve

Andy did a few so it may have been before or after me, who knows but I'll certainly agree it's good stuff.

Can also be found on Ebay occasionaly for about £7.50 IIRC :)

Which, sorry? Clay bar or these fancy pants wipers that you all luuurve?

I'm the guilty one for sending this thread spiralling off topic.:o

YES !... I fitted mine 3 days ago and they seem really good. Dead smooth with no smears and look the dogs ! - nice and chunky. Suit the car very well IMO

Windscreen Wiper Blades - Bosch, Valeo, Trico, Trupart, Champion Windscreen Wipers

kittens are lovely....

Might try them, only I'm not really that bothered what they look like tbh, as long as they do a better job than the standard ones.

Easy enough to fit I assume?

I really don't like cats of any age at all, sorry.

We've recently had to adopt one from next door, as the old dear has gone into a home and no one else locally to look after it. Horrible rancid flea bag.:dung:

Just thought I'd send this thread even further off topic like! :D

The aquapel treatments.

You end up with a really, really clean windscreen though!

Yeah; I bet. I was only teasing. I think I'll give your method a go next time I clean.

Anyway, seeing as I took this thrtead completely off topic, I'll put it back on again!

Where's the best place to purchase these clay bars then?

Never seen them in halfruds tbh, but there again, I've never really been looking for them.

Do they sort of wear out or what?

Don't tell me. There's a thousand threads on this already if i do a search....but I really don't like kittens or their parents. :thumbdwn:

Mail order only then, or halfruds etc?

Kittens are pants. They crap in your garden and howl.

get some proper MK4 golf aero wipers mate,

I got some retro ones and they were only on the car for 30 seconds, soon as I fitted them I got in to look and the gaps and size was horrific, so I put the std ones back on till I found some mk4 ones on fleabay lol £25 del.

then some new genuine blades from VW as the ones on ebay are not good enough as they miss a large section in the middle of the window.

Ill second CYC they are in Huddersfield so I can pick stuff up when Im there and they are well priced, good kit too

I am very temped to try Megs clays as my mother's silver Furby roof and bonnet is like sandpaper. Being silver it does not show the muck so hardly gets washed.

Which one is the best, 'Quick clay' or the 'Smooth Surface kit'?

Claying should be easy light work with no pressure applied, just glide it over the paint, arms should not hurt!

I use Sonus Green Fine clay with Dodo Born Slippy spray, great stuff!!

I find the subject of detailing and claying very boring but I know dervhead has quite a few members who are vey interested in the subject and might be of help to some on Briskoda.

Diesel::Driver - Powered by Diesel

I sourced some excellent quality wipers AND a Bilt-Hamber clay bar (uses water instead of an expensive lubricant) for £30ish approx from Opie Oils.

Bargain!(and supporting a site sponsor)

I bought a megs clay bar kit a few months ago and its just sat in the "cleaning draw" ever since

I've been wanting to clay the car for ages now but just havent had the time !

Looks like it's going to have to wait untill next year now for some good weather :(

Why dont you just do a panel at a time when you're bored ?

I have Tcut / polished my cars using this "panel at a time" approach in the garage.

1. Make a coffee

2. clean a panel of the car

3. Dry it

4. Clay it

5. Drink coffee and clay some more

6. Dry it

7. Wax it

After a week or so the whole car will get done
