VCDS Settings

Featured Replies

The new 2.0T FSI DSG Estate arrives on Thursday, all being well! Are there any VCDS settings it would be useful to have the dealer make before delivery, eg Columbus (retrofit) voice control?

Sorry to hijack this post but does anybody know of any key vcds settings for a 57-plate octy vrs tdi pd? I don't have maxidot though.

Here's another thought. Is there anywhere a comprehensive list of the options/settings available?

Try Ross-Tech

FWIW if you ask a dealer to change any adaptations via VCDS he may well not have a clue what you are on about as dealers do not use VDCS , many will also claim certain things cannot be changed when they clearly can.

Sorry to hi-jack, but what is VCDS?

The same as VAGCOM

VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System)

Something you only use if you know what you're doing, otherwise you could "Brick" your car.

Very Complicated Dangerous Software ?? :D

Ok Ok ;)

Me no touch :rotz:

Picking new car up soon, and has anyone got any update to this?

The car will have Maxidot so I will have some level of control over some settings, but are any others worthwhile getting the dealer to set?

Enabling both rear fog lights has been mentioned, as has activating the front fogs to work with the steering to light 'around' corners.

Any others?

Any views?

Cheers.

Yes, let's not turn this into another Mohammed thread!

Often it's more trouble than it's worth asking for certain things, as said the dealer will use VAS instead and often these small changes are more difficult using that system, or sometimes not possible.

Better getting a competent local member with VCDS to do it for you, after you've got the car, and got used to everything - then you can see what you fancy having adjusted :)

Enabling both rear fog lights has been mentioned,

Spoke to my dealer today who told me that there is a problem doing this and that they are looking into it for other customers too. Sounds like it's not the coding but the way the light array is set up that means the nearside light can't be brought into play just like that. .. which seems daft to me, but that's what was said!

And I was also told the option to get the alarm to 'chirp' when you lock/unlock the car can't be set for my spec model (SE).*

They are however going to look at setting the normal lights to work as 'daylight' ones for me.

1 out of 3 isn't too bad I guess :(

*Of course if anyone with VDCS knows better ... ;)

With the chirp, I don't see any reason why not. In any case, set it with VCDS and then test it :)

If you don't try it, you'll never know

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Seriously, the options I have set are these:

1. Scandanavian DRLs

2. Alarm on/off beep

3. Coming home/leaving home lights

4. Auto hazard lights on heavy braking

5. Central locking altered to open everything on one blip

6. Auto locking at 10mph/unlocking with key out

7. Twin rear fogs activated

8. 3xcomfort indicator flash disabled

9. Synchronised door mirror adjustment disabled

10. Weight of power steering altered to lightest setting

11. Rain sensing window closure activated

12. Seat belt warning light and bong disabled

Hope this helps

Mike

Interesting. As I said elsewhere, the dealer is struggling to set up the rear fog lights. The auto hazards my supplementary manual says are activated already (though I've had no need nor opportunity to test this out yet!) DLRs I asked for, which on my SE means parking/dipped main and rear lights. I haven't tried to switch this off via the light stalk, though I have no reason to think I can't.

What I don't quite understand is that you can specify all sorts of options for your car. It comes with the coding for these both on the final invoice and inside the petrol filler flap.

So why could Skoda not print out a manual for each car that applies to your specific options and spec? It seems like a logical idea to me.

And if you wanted different settings once you received the car? An online manual (up to date!) could answer all your questions.

But enough of my little whinges. The sun is shining, I have a car less than 24 hours from the dealers sitting on my drive. What the heck am I doing typing this?!?!? It's time to go play! Have a nice day all!

Where ere the auto hazards located Mike?

Also, do you know where the option to disable the windows down from the door lock is? I know it's possible, but cant find it.

Pretty sure those are under 46 Gadget. I know I set the hazard options on Darren's Octy2.

I would say your 'auto window open' is covered in the same module as well. With long-coding it should be obvious where the options are as you go through, if you're using a reasonably recent VCDS version....

Steve

Nope, can that - just checked what I changed Darren's coding to, and the hazard enabling is within 09 - Central Electrics.

FYI, in Darren's case....

09 Central Electrics

Current Coding: 01880F030004140000110D000000000000087F075C

Now: 01880F031004140000110D000000000000097F075C

(emergency braking flash and dual rear foglights enabled)

Those were the notes I made at the time

HTH,

Steve.

Thanks.

Using the latest 908.1 and microcan.

Just a PITA I couldnt seem to see much on an FL I looked at today.

OK, should have no issues then as I did Darren's before 908 was out...

I just went into long coding and the option was there for hazards, plain as day. Unless they've shifted stuff about in the FL as it will undoubtedly use different modules. Or are you trying to add the hazard setup on your own car?

Hazards to mine. DLR on an FL.

All I could see was locking options. Everything else seemed missing

As far as I know, programming has been made more difficult by VAG since the interior FL and even more difficult with the FL.

Lot of controllers arent directly codeable anymore or dont save the newer settings.

Also the options on the earlier cars are different of the newer ones. The newer ones often already have some gadgets as std or you can choose them in the maxidot. (CH/LH for example is since MJ07 std in the maxidot, therefore you had to code it).

From Mikeholroyds list, I can activate/deactivate 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11 over the settings in my maxidot. 4 is std on my car (german spec).

I can still do some other coding, such as DLR (US/CAN or scandinavian), alarmbeep when opening the car, activate the front indicators US style, deactivate the famous bong, play with the brightness of the different bulbs, deactivation of the reversing lights when opening the rear, delay of activation of the headlight washers as well as the duration, second rear fog light, teardrop wiping front as well as rear and so on.

But in the later versions from ifaik mj09 on, they changed some controllers and the accesability. It might get better if the guys from Ross Tech find a solution, this might take a little though.

I've just had my DRLs, Cornering Lights and 2nd Rear Fog Light activated at the dealers on my MY10 Elegance. It's build week was about 38. This is after Skoda changed the the internal computer version in the Octavia FL.

I have just been informed by a Skoda Dealer (who had been in contact directly with Skoda) that the new facelift Octavia doesn't have software control of the second fog light. (or at least my November Octavia Vrs Facelift).

They were also of the opinion that you could do it, until they couldn't and contacted Skoda.

Obviously if anyone has managed to do it without running a new wire between the fogs I would love to hear about it.

Graham

Graham, mine is definately a fl, was built about wk 38, so I'm not sure why you have been told it's not possible.

Is it a VRs thing?

I can't really see why they would have a different system for the rear lights though. :S

Do you know how they enabled the second rear fog light? At Silbury Skoda today they could not find out how to do so for me. They managed to get the DRLs working. Mine was built 27/08/2009.

My dealers ignored my request to activate fog, emergency braking hazzards and cornering fogs.

Should i go back and insist its done?

Oh and what are Scandinavian DRL's and how do they differ from the DRL's on the FL vRS?

Got any pics of the lights in Scandinavian mode?
