Yep nice bit of kit.

Leeboy has one on his very modified VRS, and I think Delcac has too on his very very modified VRS.

As Billy states it would compliment a larger turbo, and exhaust manifold with bigger injectors too.

Not much point without those. I bet those claimed figures are not achievable without the other mods done. (it does say with a heavy modified car)

Lets do a group buy.

You lot group together and buy me one...

:D

Naa it's too shiny and ghey looking!! Looks like optimus prime's plonker!

You want this one:

KMD Tuning - Dahlback Racing 1.8T Manifold

Here it is fitted, looks the nuts:

Throttle body's on the wrong side though...:(

I've spoken to ABD racing in the past and they said you should still see reasonable gains without a big turbo.

cheers si, a good ol bit of research

That might be for large port engines? - EDIT ABD don't do a large port manifold. It must be widening the runners and cleaning out around the injector seat.

I was told they are pointless with the standard set up.....

I looked into getting one (when I had the IHI) but was pi$$ed around for months by 'IP'.

Ideally you need to get the head inlet ports ported to match the manifold otherwise it might actually make the flow worse.

Twin plenum manifolds are sexual; they give near equal volumes per runner. The ProAlloy Jabba inlet is based on this design.....CLICK HERE

Bill (Badger5) fitted a Dahlback to his Ibiza years ago, all was fine until he shut the bonnet......3 guesses for what happened next?!?!?!

Yeah those runners are pretty nice and long! I'd also see having the TB on the opposite side as a good thing. Then you can run a decent FMIC.

No doubting that the Dahlback is a far superior design to the ABD. It's pretty much the perfect shape for forced induction. You don't see many silver shoe boxes on WRC engines.....

(Skoda 20vt)

The ABD is probably easier to get hold of though, and looks like it's more of an easy OEM fit. Get it if you have the money!

i thought id chuck ABD a email and i had this reply

Our manifold should fit just fine on your car as we have accounts in Europe and in Mexico that use it for that application. The gain with this manifold on a stock car is approx 8-10hp, on a chipped car you’re looking at approx 12-15hp gain. The extrude hone option is a port and polishing of the interior manifold surfaces where all of the texture is eliminated until it is smooth as glass. It is good for better acceleration and approx 1-2hp additional.

ask them what standard car it was run on and was it a true back to back test i.e stock on abd on same unit??

get them to post the info as im sure thats a load of crap lol

p.s your turbo can only push X amount of air in !!!!!!

p.s.s awesome are the sole seller of abd in this country

  • Author

should i pester awesome for info then you think?

it was abd themselves that gave the reply

although it still does look very cool and shiny

10m 12 bhp seems very wishfull tho for sumin that bolts on

:Dmaybe th 1 or 2

i added abit to the thread title, maybe i'll get someone from awesomes attention for us to quiz lol

Watching this thread with interest.

I agree with westallc. If you car is running max map on the standard turbo which is probably 230bhp how can the inlet manifold change get another 8-10 bhp.

like to see the gains on various tests too.

thats what i was thinking

i do love the look anyway

but with the stage 2 apr i got it RR at 225bhp0 so with this what lol 235  i dont see how  hope n dreams maybe :D

it mite help my apr k04 idea later on maybe  maybe

i assume awesome members are still floating about on here?

Just to throw an itsy bitsy spanner into the proceedings. I've just started honing out the standard ABD manifold out to match my new ADR big port head. In standard form it is one of the best flowing small port manifolds on the market for the money. It gives near identical air flow through all 4 runners and above all it's shiny and the best looking. :P

What more could you possible ask for. :D
