Hi there,

Autocar magazine is looking for an owner of a Skoda Fabia vRS. If you've got one - ideally a '54, '05 or '55 reg in original condition - you're available to come on a photoshoot this coming Monday 12th October in the Surrey area, and you'd like you and your car to be featured in Autocar, could you email [email protected]?

We'll need you from 9.00am until mid-afternoon, and while we can't pay you for your time, we can throw in lunch, a free tank of juice, a copy of the mag and of our photos. And hopefully a fun day out.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

MS

CAK! I'm no where near on the 12th! I would'a gone for this in all!

Looking forward to see what they write though, what's the subject matter? Cars that have strangely held there value through the recession? ;)

I was just going to link to this. They're also after a Mini Cooper S, Clio 182 and Fiesta ST...

im in surrey and have a 55reg standard VRS?

let me know man!

I think you might need to email the guy as I am sure the OP is just linking the request from piston heads

Whats the article about? Worth buying?

Autocar's always worth buying!

It's a £5k warm-hatch group test.

Nice pics!

Bit unfair comparing the vRS to the Cooper S though

I thought it was the other way round

Nope... Cooper S is superior to the vRS :)

If you read it I think Matt Saunders gives the impression the VRS is the best allrounder. Best built too. I would probably have the Cooper S though for the handling but no luggage space, and small tank plus supercharged thirst. Whose car was it by the way? He and myself mustbe one of the few people with an untouched VRS.

Agree with Babs Autocar is the only mag whose opinion I really listen too now. Still got old talent behind the scenes like Steve Cropley and Mel Nicholls who edited CAR when it was worth reading. Shame about the SEAT Ibiza Cupra though. If I replace the Furby it will be a Cooper S or a Clio 197 then. Apparently the DSG is rubbish on track and so are the brakes and it is not that inspiring on the road either. Why there is no manual option is beyond me.

Having driven a hard-top Copper and a soft top Copper S (don't ask!) they bothhandled and went really well; and i'd consider one to replace the Fabia.... but only if i could swap the interior.

Honestly there's hint of retro, there's retro and then there's the Mini's caricature of retro. I do not need a speedo the size of a dinner plate!!! :rotz:

Didnt like the fact the ST had lowered suspension.. Autocar say the ST has really sharp handling...

well yes!

Yeah and the Cooper had a whole different wheel set-up than standard - no wonder the poor little Fabia struggled to compete in handling department! I think it put up a good fight though - the article clearly implied it was the best all rounder and best put together

Mind you the whole article was a bit flawed as the Fiesta and Cooper were both older than the Fabia, and modded and I doubt you'd pick up an 06 reg vRS for 5k - I wonder how an 02 reg fabia (I know there was no vRS back then) would've compared for interior rattle standards though!

lol quite a specific test then.

They tested a 05 Fiesta and an 02 Mini CS with a 06 Furby. However at the end of the article they say a 04 Furby with 71k miles is the same price as a 04 ST with 38k miles, £5,700 or an 05 ST with 73K for £5k.

I wonder what mine is worth, a 2004/04 Furby with 60k miles on it?

I don't know but prices are firm: Mine's an 05 completely standard with 40,000 miles. My local Skoda garage had an 06 with 34k for £9995:eek:Admittedly with dealer warranty and back up but when you consider that is only two grand odd off new list...Still went though. May have to sell mine soon to go back to Uni so will have to do some research.
