How long?

Featured Replies

I Really lost my Rag with my Fabia today, It stalled on a sharp incline with some traffic lights, so it just rolled back, My foot wasn't covering the brake because it won't roll back in "D", I was about an inch from someone who nearly got squished by me and my fat fabia, I then got loads of beeping because it refused to start again, Just turning over with no sign of life, until he presto! I was off again, but my sense of reason was left behind and I AM DEFINATLEY GETTTING A NEW ONE :) It makes sense, Has to be new for the warranty, but my big question is that with the Facelift coming (Which i want) How long will I have to wait? Whatever it is will definatley be a hatchback in Lemon yellow, Will the lemon yellow slow things down a bit?. I really can't descide which model to choose, I was thinking of Ambiente or Comfort SE with a 1.4 75hp TD, I don't know what my budget is yet, so what will be the waiting time for an average model?

Go test drive a VRS and ajust your budget accordingly :)

i took delivery of mine last week (thursday) and it took 4 weeks (as i only had cruise & metallic paint). There were quite a few with a two week wait period (all new facelift) if you weren't too fussy..

Have fun choosing !

What's your opinion on the 1.4PD It seems well suited, A little slow to 60 but faster than my current (1.4 75hp Auto), but is it torquey like the 100hp and 130hp PD's? And is it just me but does that cinnamony red metallic look classy?

The 1.4TDi is excellent - what it lacks in grunt it makes up for in it's ability to rev nicely and the balance it gives the car through not being particularly heavy.

Much nicer to drive than the vRS...

Sound's like a good engine, Though I am confused about this whole torq stuff, My current is 93 lbs/ft wheras this is 144lbs/ft, so What does that all mean?

Torque is the turning force generated by the engine...the larger the figure, the more force exerted by the engine.

BHP is essentially the rate at which this torque is produced (the peak amount is usually what's quoted).

Diesel engines use higher compression ratios, so have longer strokes, hence generate more torque. They don't rev as high as petrol engines though, so the peak power output is relatively low...

It means basically it will pull you along better.

The 1.4 3 cylinder TDi is a great little lump, get one you wont regret it.

There are hardly any Comfort SE's left, couldn't find a 1.9 TDI on the system a couple of weeks ago.

Faclifted Fabia's are already available for delivery and Ambient comes with aircon until the end of the year.

The dealers were offering me facelifted Fabia 1.9TDi Ambients with metallic paint for

Plus your 1.4 75 bhp is strangled by the auto box.

Okay I'm thinking i have got this whole BHP/torq thing now, Just one question, My current car says it's 75hp@5000rpm, but It will rev to 5500, so does it produce more than 75hp? And whats the rev limit on this little PDI?

No peak power is at 5,000 rpm, after that power falls off.

Oh, I see, Will 3 cylinders affect the lifetime of the engine, I have never heard of a 3 Cyl Diesel before, I heard that 3 cyl's are cruder and wear quicker, is it true?

The three cylinder engine is basically the 1.9 with a cylinder chopped off.

The only reason you will get slightly more wear is having to push it a bit more than you would with a more powerful 1.9TDi.

It should still last longer than a higher revving petrol engine though.

Really? I was told it was a totally different block, and made from aluminium - hence making it considerably lighter than the 1.9...

I doubt they would have done that either, General Motors had a 5.7L V8, but they Chopped 2 cylinders off to make a 4.3L V6, Put in the Chevrolet Blazer which was sold here, The engine is unbalanced and they suffer many problems due to the way the cylinders are not balanced or something like that. Anyhow, Me and Wife discussed what model/budget we could afford and we agreed on this....What do you think?

Fabia (Facelift) 1.4PDI Ambiente with Alloys and Cruise control, in metallic red?

She doesen't want diesel, but I told her If we got a petrol I would force her to use IZAL Medicated toilet tissue, She begged me for the Diesel! Great weapon is IZAL!!!

Go for a test drive in one, and get her behind the wheel too, and you shouldn't need to resort to such drastic threats... :D
