Featured Replies

hiya

picking my vrs le up on thursday this week. the dealer is taking off the nasty bald coopers and changing the tyres.

What tyres where supplied as standard? Pirelli?

sorry for if this has been mentioned before, had a search and could not find anything. Just wana make sure its all right when i pick it up.

THANKS

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I don't have a Fabia SE (it's not normally called the le) nor did I get mine new. However I think they may have come with either Bridgestones or Continentals, I'm not sure which one or model?

These however are not the best tyres you can buy for the car, if you do a search you will find plenty of threads about what tyres are the best (you will also find what happens when you don't use the search button, lol :D). Most people on here will recommend either Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s or Toyo Proxes T1-Rs.

ok thanks, i could find other tyres people recommended but not the oem ones when i searched. thanks

Mine had Continental SportContact2s on it, which I believe are the original ones.

I've now replace three of the feckers - all through damage rather than any wearing out.

I like them. Nice and durable. A little bit of a tendency to aquaplane if it's *really* wet, though.

Just bought my SE last week and it's got 4 Continental SportContact2s that will need replacing (car's done 25k miles), so I assume that they were the original fitment

Hello,

As said dxg, Continental Contact2 are prone to aqua-planing, have got cheap and nasties now all round.

Paid below 'Budget' level prices and have found, they are far superior to the Conti's.

It's preference/ deep pocket's in the end, what you have fitted.

Front's with Conti's 15,000 miles with rear 40,000miles with 3m/m tread and became perished 4 years-old.

i have a couple of wheels from an SE and they came with bridgestone tyres, not sure of model. they were crap tho and i wouldnt recommend them.

Mine came with the Conti sport 2 as well - changed to Uniroyal Rainsport 2.

Can't really compare as the Contis were well worn when I got it but the Uniroyals are fine.

OE tyres would be any make of tyre that the Skoda factory could get a good deal on at the time. They do not pick the best tyre for the car, morover the right size at the right price. There are plenty of suggestions on tyres on Briskoda. For dry roads and track days the Toyo Tr1's are becoming the most popular although they do wear quickly, there is a big choice out there and really it's up to you.

When I picked my SE up the tyres had been replaced with 4 Maxxis ones. I thought "What the hell?!", haha! But they're actually alright, though I wouldn't say no to some Toyo's. I'd be surprised if you find your tyres have been replaced with anything expensive but keep me posted.

I beleive maxxis have their origin in motorsport, they are supposed to make some good tyres!

most SE's I've seen have been conti's, I don't normally do budget, but I currently had to, and got some Nankang sport II's, and boy am I suprised, very close to the leading brands but at budget costs, wet or dry..... only downside they are not very progressive, they grip and grip then instead of gently starting to slide (like F1's for example) they just snap! lol....makes for fun :D

IME with many different makes and models of tyre, Michelin Pilot Exalto II is the best
