Featured Replies

Just installing it and downloading all the extra bits now so I can sit down and have a good play! For once the postal strike has worked in my favour!

Nice one, I am getting it soon too \o/ woo. Xbox tag is yegnold if you fancy a race when it arrives...

I have been playing all evening.. it is awesome!..

Its difficult to put my finger on it but the whole driving/physics engine seems more "robust" and more fluid than forza 2... eg my pimped up fiat500 abarth has very stiff suspension/ARBs and you get the distinct sensation of it skipping sideways slightly when cornering hard... - its also a VERY tail-happy bugger at high speed

Currently running a 3 MPS in white (ovbiously) - 350ish bhp ;)

Yeah, once the suspension is stiffened up on the 500 you get awesome lift off oversteer. And in a straight line you can see it bobbling about over the surface! Tis awesome!

Watch playing it online, MS are banning users from Xbox Live who have been playing this game early. Although targeted at pirates, some legitimate owners have also been banned. The official release date is not until Friday.

Microsoft drops the ban hammer - AVForums.com

I've also been warned by the friend who fettled my xbox about MS getting the banning stick out in Nov.

Im waiting with baited breath for my copy. I can see me losing a whole weekend to it!

Mine's still not despatched, and I've ordered it from Amazon.

I should be playing sometime next July! :(

Argos have always listed 27th as their delivery date so I'm not wholly sure if I will receive it this week! I can't work out if the funds have been debited from my Credit card either yet!

I pre-ordered from Argos. My confirmation mail said they would contact me on the 26th to arrange delivery for the 30th.

I rang them earlier to see if this was still the case with the release date moving forward and according to the person I spoke to it has been shipped.

Time and postal workers will tell. :)

as of today play.com list mine as posted

Good to know Hedge i called Argos Customer Services yesterday to check if they did indeed depsatch by Royal Mail and was confirmed they do.

Fingers crossed my copy makes it through!

Schern/Col - how does the "game on 2 discs" work? from images of the SE version I see a disc is labelled as "INSTALL DISC" that mean that there is no disc swapping?!

To take the thread slightly offtopic, I downloaded the demo for this and have held off buying the full version (and stuck with PGR3 ) as I struggled using the gamepad to control it. Should I persist trying to master the gamepad or does a proper steering wheel setup lend itself better to this game? :D

Chris

persistance with the pad will pay off, but it's not a substitute for a wheel

Chris

PGR3?! Jeeze get with the times :)

i'd say comparing that to Forza 2 is like comparing arcadey fun chalk and much much better sim fun chalk

Pad is ok much easier to master and alwyas to have however the wheel is so much better - the level of extra detail when switching from one to the other takes lots of adjustment. I've often barrelled into the first corner and stamped on the brake pedal as hard as i'd pull the tigger and stopped dead! Again even with 2 you can feel the steering go light if you start over steering or weight up as per oversteer.

I'd use my wheel all the time if i had space to keep it set up all the time.

Spare room and spare 30" TV could be the answer once Forza 3 arrives in my sweaty mitts!!

I also think if you do go down the wheel route investment in a proper seat set up (see gameracer.co.uk or gamepod.co.uk or if your feeling SUPER flush the offical Forza 3 Porsche set up at fanatec.de) as the sat on a sofa with wheel clamped to an occasional table or coffee table is a nightmare! doesn't come cheap but i reckon it'd be worth it.

Oops I am living in the past - I meant PGR4

I'll persist with the pad and see how I get on before I shell out on the game and a wheel. I was hoping that my old USB Microsoft Force Feedback wheel for the PC would work but it would appear not

Chris

Seriously Chris the wheel is well worth the money. Transformed the game from good to brilliant to me (Forza 2) - and feels even better on 3!

when you boot up the first disk it asks if you want to install disk2 for more cars and tracks. you can also go "advanced" and install parts of it.. both disks installed is 9.1gig

Game garentee delivery for release date... so they upgraded all the preorders to special delivery for free. im not complainin :)

am *really* liking the game.. tho the career mode is very different from 2, using a race-calendar format.. you get a choice to do a race-series over 2 weeks, and then theres a championship event every other weekend of the race season.

it does tend to sway towards getting you in various different cars rather than sticking to one for ages.

Still no sign of mine being despatched :(

Thanks Col - makes sense

Guess it's not compulsory to install though otherwise anyone with a hard-drive-less arcade console wouldn't be able to play

both disks installed is 9.1gig

 which game saves do i not need! :D

I tried getting hold or Argos to find out if my copy had been sent or not and was told if it says free delivery on 23rd it means it'll be sent out on 23rd which is clearly wrong.

God i love call centre morons!

Still no sign of mine being despatched :(

Not really suprised though as release data is not till Friday. Those that have it, are lucky as they were obviously sent early to avoid the post strike.

they have qtr mile drag strips! :D

went to play online before and it said there was only 46 people online

there was only 46 people online

4 of them were on my friends list!

Is it 9.1, or 1.9? I've seen both figured bandied about?

My understanding that it was 1.9gb (from the link I sent you yesterday)... maybe that only covers the second disc though?
