dash rattle

Featured Replies

my superb is going in to the main dealer next week a rattle in the dash and its getting worse every time i drive it love the car to bits though seems to be behind the radio climate control area anyone else with this problem the roads are awful here but ok on smoother tarmac

In the last few days, my Superb has also developed a rattle in this area. It started after driving over speed bumps and only occurs on rough surfaces. The rattle sounds a bit like a Spanish castanet. I would be interested to know what yor dealer finds.

well went for a drive today, well shopping the missus needed stuff food or somthing wel the rattle appeared and all of a sudden she thats the missus said its the rear view mirror touched it and moved it to anti glare and back again rattle gone but now this is really strange when changing gear on the release the clutch a distinctive squeek was audible at every change

Mine had the same rattle - but I've now fixed it!! (mind, it's taken me the best part of 6 weeks!). The rattle seemed to be from the dash beside the drivers side of the climate control, but the rattle seemed to emit from the whole of the drivers side. I tried allsorts, WB40 etc, but nothing worked. Then I found if you press the bottom of the dash side supports (the upright bit) at the bottom, where it meets the ashtray sliding panel, it stopped the rattle. I have since inserted a small black plastic wedge to stop the upright support from moving - problem solved! She's now as silent as I would have expected!

I had the same thing - turned out to be the rear view mirror. I now have its settings reversed, so for normal daytime driving the lever is pulled towards me (no rattle), and I push it away at night if there are bright lights behind. Not perfect but livable with - still can't believe an auto dimming mirror isn't standard. If I'd have bought the car new I'd definitely have specced that.

Now all I have to do is track down the (very occasional) rattle in the back and silence will be complete :)

I had a rattle that sounded like it was either from the just under the window in the passengers door or from the dash near the passenger side. Couldn't pinpoint it exactly - but convinced that was where it was from.

Eventually I had a problem with the inner cover on the sunroof that needed fixed - the cover clip had parted itself from the actual sunroof - so the inner cover was left open when the sunroof closed (showing the works). When that happened something rattled even more just in front of the sunroof. When the sunroof was fixed the 'passenger door/dash' rattle disappeared.

same as mine sorted , now quiet :D

Mine has developed a bloody annoying rattle from the chrome surround on the rev counter. If I drive with one hand pressed against it, it goes away, but this is just a tad bit dangerous!! Waiting on local dealer phoning me back as have this, paint flaking off front spolier, headlight and foglight replacement (both steaming up on inside). Been told this will all get sorted once foglights come in, been waiting 3 weeks now as there on 'back order' - car is great, best I've ever had but not sure how much longer I can handle this rattle!! Has anyone else had to wait this long to get their fogs done??
