The dreaded dash rattle!

Plenty on here regarding this, easy fix-it guide here <=============== clicky:D

try doing a search next time (you are Sherlock :holmes: after all:rofl:), as there are those on here that will ritually flay and barbeque a kitten if a common question put before is asked:thumbup:

Thanks for info but the noise i am getting sounds more like a slightly heavy vibration from the lower dash/centre console not a rattleing noise, like i said its more noisey when slowing down over rough roads

This could be the same do you get it at slow speeds over rough surfaces like a rumbling/ rattle, i know its hard to describe a noise in words but thats how i would describe it

Have you checked the passenger belt buckle against the centre console?

seems rather common on here. I have some foam stuck down there now, then secured with black electrical tape. works a treat!

Seat belt anchors hitting center consul

Take your place in the queue for the dreaded dash-rattle, gonna start a club soon. LOL

Could be anything in-behind, but rest assured its not serious, just bloody annoying.

Yes it sounds the same. Mainly get it when pulling away and slowing down :thumbdwn:

I had a cam belt change (Main Dealer) on a 1.4 TDI, when it came back it had this horrible noise being transmitted through the bulkhead/radio area and a heavy vibration at 1500 rpm, at 1700 it cleared.

On examination one of the flexible gear link cables had been disloged from its lower bulkhead clip and they had snapped the bracket that holds the alloy coolant pipes to the bulkhead. They had obviously forced the engine too high to make things easier to replace the belt.

Returned the car and they fixed it by using a jubilee type clip !!!!

I would not accept the bodge repair, they are collecting tomorrow to replace the alloy pipe.

sorted i think. had it on the ramp today at work and i found the exhaust heat shield to be rattling on the hand brake cables and the noise was being transmited down the tunnel so i slightly adjusted the shield with hammer/adjusting tool and guess what no noise, also covered the gear change cables with some light foam. WELL HAPPY A QUIET FABIA NO RATTLES !!!!!!!!
