Possible MAF issues on my Octavia vRS:

1. Will Skoda/VAG Uk honour the 70,000 mile MAF warranty I'm reading about elsewhere/in the states (my car is 4000 miles out of warranty [64k miles])?

2. Is there a [reliable] Pierburg/Mercedes MAF replacement for the 1.8t (and NOT just diesels), and is this a good idea on somebodies' ;) chipped car (does it overboost/fuel)?

3. If none of the above are viable, how much is a "decent" MAF (Europarts etc)?

Last Sunday (17/10/04), the AA Diagnosed a "P1296 Air and Fuel Metering" issue. Once they'd used there own VAG-like system to reset it, I proceeded to clean and dry the MAF with some special alcohol stuff (I bought it 6 months before). I've now driven the car for 7 days and the engine light has come back on again (haven't had it diagnosed yet) and I'm guessing it the air metering again.

Please tell me this isn't the slippery slope to weekly repairs, I came away from a Cavalier Sri because of the 'legendary ;)' Octavia reliability, which cost me
